Scorchfang purred contently as he padded over to the medicine den. After talking it over with Littlestar, they had come to the decision that it would be best for Scorchfang to teach his younger sister and ShadowClan's medicine cat Silentpaw how to navigate apprentices to Highstones for their Moonstone journeys since Nettlesting wouldn't be able to anymore. He was very much looking forward to spending some quality time with Silentpaw for the first time in so many moons.

He mewed softly at the mouth of the medicine den before squeezing in. "Hey, Silentpaw, I'm ready to go when you are. Are the traveling herbs about ready?"

Silentpaw was practically stumbling over herself as she tried to piece together the two small bundles of travelling herbs. "B-burnet... daisy... c-catmint? No! Wait... chamomile... ahhh what was the last thing?" She frantically skittered about, peeking in small alcoves housing countless leaves, berries, seeds, and roots in varying stages of dryness. "Oh where was it... ahhh.... Sorrel!" Claiming the flat leaves quickly, she gathered up one of the bundles of herbs and dropped it in front of her older brother with a weary sigh. "So many things to remember..." she mumbled, looking wilted and drained. Her gaze apprehensively drifted to her own bundle and, with a deep breath, she downed it as quickly as possible in her best attempt at avoiding the taste.

It didn't really work, and she grimaced at the pungent, bitter taste that flooded her mouth. Part of her wondered if adding honey to the mixture would help at all. She'd have to experiment with that at some point...

Everything had been in such turmoil lately, she honestly didn't know what to do anymore. After Nettle... she was thankful for her brother's presence. His offer to help her cope with all of this, and to teach her what he knew of her expected duties was a life-saver. She knew she couldn't begin to thank him enough for this. A small voice inside of her continued to wonder if she was cut out for the job. She doubted she'd be able to manage alone... but for now at least, he was willing to help her and it was enough.

She nodded to him once he had eaten the bundle, ready to follow.

Scorchfang lowered his head to gulp down the bitter herbs, grimacing at the taste, and drew his tongue over his lips many times over to rid himself of the taste. At his younger sister's worried tone, he padded over to her and nuzzled her fondly with a soft purr. "I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, but I know you have what it takes to be ShadowClan's next medicine cat. Never hesitate to come to me for help on anything, okay? And if you need me to continue taking over Moonstone journeys after this if you're still not comfortable, let me know." He rasped his tongue against Silentpaw's cheek affectionately, then turned and padded out of the den. "Ready to go?"

Her pelt warmed at her brother's touch and she adverted her gaze. She'd never found herself particularly close to her family, and the recent knowledge that she was in fact adopted continued to rest at the back of her mind. Scorchfang's open affection and concern felt strange... alien even. She wondered if he even knew they had no blood relation, but as her eyes met his steady amber gaze a sort of comfort washed over her. Maybe it didn't matter too much?

She couldn't help the soft, exhausted sigh that escaped her as she padded alongside him towards the camp entrance. Mulling over the large tom's words for a heartbeat or two, she nodded. "U... understood!"

Scorchfang's gaze softened. "There's no need to be so formal around me, you know. I mean, sure, we both have important roles in the Clan, but we're still brother and sister, aren't we?" He bent down to nuzzle her cheek before gesturing with his tail for her to follow him out of camp.

He taught her the route to take, padding past Carrionplace out of ShadowClan territory and skirting the border of WindClan territory towards Highstones. They were quick to approach the large Thunderpath, and he turned to look down at his sister. "We both already know how dangerous Thunderpaths can be, but you may have to remind any apprentice of the danger of monsters. Make sure to concentrate on the tremors in your paws as the monsters pass; if you can't feel anything, and if you don't see any monsters coming, that's the best time to run as fast as you can over the Thunderpath. If you can, run alongside or behind the apprentice so that you can help them immediately if they trip or freeze up."

He closed his eyes, concentrating hard on the trembling ground underpaw as monsters continued to roar past. "You concentrate as well, Silentpaw. Tell me when you think we can cross."
