Afternoon explorations (open)

The early afternoon sun felt war against Fawnkit's brown pelt as she exited the nursery. She blinked her eyes to adjust to the bright sun light but when she finally adjusted to the light she gazed around the camp. Her eyes glittered with curiosity as she looked around in awe. She scampered out into the middle of the camp to get a better look at everything around her giggling quietly. She was so distracted looking at everything around her that she ran into an unsuspecting cat. "I am so sorry." She said quietly trying to hide her embarrassment.

The newleaf sun felt nice on Dovestream's gray pelt. She had been born during the harsh coldness of leafbare, so she wasn't used to warm weather, at all. This was something that she could get used to. Closing her eyes, the she-cat sucked in a breath and let it out. She had a hunting patrol to go on in a bit, so relaxing her muscles wouldn't do her any harm. After she had managed to calm herself, she felt a tiny force ram directly into her side. Thinking that it was some sort of threat, Dovestream whirled around with her claws unsheathed, but she stopped once she saw that it was just a kit. Having no clue whether or not she should be amused or irritated with the small she-kit, the warrior slipped her claws into their sheaths and lowered herself so that she was at the same height level as the young WindClanner in front of her.
"Hey, there," Dovestream began, "Watch where you're going next time."
She made sure to keep her voice level so that the kit wouldn't get scared or upset.

Giving the warrior a sheepish smiling she nodded her head quickly. "I promise I will. I'll be extra careful." Fawnkit said gazing up at the warrior. "I'm Fawnkit, what's your name?" She asked curiously sitting down her tail flicking back and forth. She had a million questions buzzing in her mind, she wanted to hear all about what it was like being a warrior, after all she dreamed of being the best warrior she could.

A smile appeared on Dovestream's muzzle once the little kit promised to be more careful. That was the great thing about speaking to kits, they did whatever they were told simply because they looked up to the older cats. While the gray tabby wasn't planning to take advantage of a fellow WindClanner, or a kit in general, it was still a nice feeling to have. The warrior rose back to her normal height and wrapped her tail around her paws after sitting down. She missed the times when she was a kit. It wasn't like she was old, or anything, but she still a good amount of moons older than Fawnkit.
"I like your name, Fawnkit," Dovestream commented, grinning, "I'm Dovestream. I think you're going to be a great warrior one day, just like me. I'm sure your mother thinks so, too. What's your mom's name?"

Fawnkit sat up tall wanting to seem taller in front of the warrior. "Thank you. Your name is so pretty." She gushed out of excitement. It wasn't every day she got to chat with a warrior. "I am gonna be the fastest cat in Windclan." She boasted slightly. She loved to race her denmates around the camp. She had an addiction to running and dreamed of running across the moors. "My mother's name is Darkpuddle" The kit couldn't hold it in any longer and she grinned. "Will you please tell me everything about being a warrior?"

Dovestream couldn't help but chuckle at Fawnkit's attempt to seem taller. That's when she suddenly decided that she liked this kit. She wasn't the type of cat to coo and get sappy over a kit. However, Fawnkit seemed to be the type of kit that she could get used to. Maybe, she could even convince her mother to let her mentor the kit in front of her.
"Oh, thanks!" Dovestream's yellow eyes glowed at the compliment, "I'm sure you'll be awfully fast when you get older. The enemies won't even be able to catch you."
That's when Fawnkit asked the question. There were a lot of things to being a warrior, some of them Dovestream hadn't even seen yet.
"Well, being a warrior is one of the greatest pleasures that a Clan cat could receive. You get the leave camp freely, you can lead patrols, you can train apprentices, and you can show off your skills to the apprentices. It's actually pretty fun."
