A Sunny Afternoon (Closed)

The breeze that brushed over Darkfrost's pelt was refreshingly cool in the afternoon's heat, especially after a particularly long border patrol not too long before. He laid off to the side of the clearing with prey at his paws, making sure to stay out of any other cat's way. His sharp green eyes scanned the small groups of cats that had formed to share tongues in search of one particular cat he had taken specific notice of quite some time ago.

Cloverbreeze shook out her pelt to make sure there was no moss or anything hanging it before she made an entrance into camp from the warriors' den. She padded over to the freshkill pile and found a field mouse. She wasn't incredibly hungry and so a rabbit would be a little too much. Moving away from the groups of cats she found a spot by hersel. No, she wasn't antisocial but she didn't feel the need to join any conversations at this point, she just wanted to eat.

His heart began to pound a little harder when he finally saw her leaving the warriors' den. He knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't approach anyone and, while he didn't like to either, Darkfrost would have to go to her. Well, here goes everything. He swallowed one more bite of his prey and stood up, taking the half-eaten rabbit with him. The tomcat did everything in his power to stroll across the clearing like nothing special was happening and everything was as usual but couldn't help a slight stutter in his step. Pretty soon he was standing in front of Cloverbreeze. He set his rabbit on the ground and said in his deep voice, "Do you mind if I eat with you?"

After taking a few bites of her food she finished swallowing them and looked around. She took in the afternoon as it settled upon WindClan camp. Cloverbreeze caught sight of a large dark grey tom moving towards her, she knew the cat to be Darkfrost.

If there was a cat to be fond of in the clan it was him. The tom was very similar to herself, which was something she favored in other cats. She purred slightly under her breath and nodded to his question. ”Of course.”

Though her thoughts before came rushing to her current ones, she shushed them away as she wasn’t completely turn off by the thought of company while eating. Taking another bite of her mouse she studied the tom to an extent.

He suppressed a sigh of relief, settling down beside her and pulling the rabbit closer to himself. After a little while of silent eating, he decided to skip straight to the point by saying, "You know, I think that you are a very intelligent and beautiful she-cat. I'd like to get to know you and spend more time with you." Darkfrost didn't realize that he was kneading the ground with his claws in nervousness as he spoke. He hoped that it wasn't too sudden, but he didn't like to beat around the bush. He thought it was best to be honest and tell the truth about how he felt instead of stumbling around in awkwardness, and the truth was that he found her thirst for learning and quiet consideration to be wonderful qualities in a cat that he hoped to have a relationship with someday.

Cloverbreeze wasn't one to be nervous for a reason as silly as talking to another cat, but she was though she didn't really show it. She noticed the kneading of the ground by Darkfrost and if cats could blush she would have been doing it. Her body became hot and began radiating the heat, or at least that's what she felt like she was doing, when Darkfrost spoke.

She took another bite of her mouse which almost finished the small piece of prey. After swallowing it she purred, "That sounds wonderful. I feel the same way." She purred louder and rubbed up against him.

He forgot about his own prey and began purring too. He closed his eyes, drinking in her scent. Darkfrost simply relaxed and, for once, enjoyed being in the company of another cat. His tail flicked in contentment. He hadn't expected it to go so well and his spirits were soaring.
