Crowpaw decided to go on a hunting patrol alone to check how good were her hunting abilities. She wanted to show Cinderfall how great she was at fishing so one day they could compete again. However, she scented a cat from another clan. The tuxedo she-cat stood up from her spot and started tracking up the origin of the smell. Soon, she found a tortie tom jumping from rock to rock to their side of the river. It was Pantherblaze, who was testing if those rocks were safe enough for him to cross. Crowpaw hissed and unsheathed her claws fiercely. "Get out of Riverclan's territory, filthy Skyclan scum!" She shouted passionately.
Pantherblaze noticed her presence when she spoke, expecting to see a random Riverclan cat yelling at him. But it wasn't any RiverClanner... it was Batfang and his mate's daughter. The SkyClanner left his rock and rushed to her in a second, slashing her chest suddenly with anger. "You! Don't you dare to give me orders, apprentice!" He snarled. She was Batfang's daughter... if he hurt her, he would hurt his father.

The small she-cat yelped surprised but she didn't take too long to recover. She jumped to Pantherblaze and smashed his head into the water, not giving him air for a few seconds. When she let him free, Crowpaw hissed, ready to defend her land. "I don't care if you're a warrior or not! You're trespassing the border! You're a code-breaker!"

The warrior snarled back and he tried to focus his blurry vision on the small RiverClanner. "Maybe I am, but your father, Batfang, isn't any better! He's just a fox-hearted codebreaker!" He spatted with poison on his tongue.

The she-cat answered back, with fury feeling her soul. If there was a thing she couldn't stand was the fact that someone offended her family. "You're going to regret that!" She shouted before attacking him with her claws and giving Pantherblaze a torn left ear.

Pantherblaze, when he felt his ear being destroyed by the she-cat, attacked in pure rage and bit off a part of her ear too before tossing her away. The taste of blood felt awesome and he wanted more. He wanted to kill her for having the perfect family he never had... the one his father took away from him. But he was too slow. Crowpaw ran off the place after he bit her ear to call for help. The warrior had nothing else to do here so he left the place swiftly before more RiverClanners could. One day... he would kill her too as well as her parents.
