What About a Second Round? (CLOSED)

The scarred warrior looked at Batfang from the corner of his narrowed eyes. They hadn't spoken too much since the last hunting patrol they went together when she was still an apprentice. The silver warrior hissed softly and annoyed. Why Jaystream ordered her to lead a patrol with that old, grumpy mouse-brain tom? It was nonsense... but she couldn't disobey her deputy. "Okay, we will stop here. We must bring prey for our clan as fast as we can. Those young mouths won't be fed alone." She mewed with a sharp tone before lashing her tail, dismissively.


The daughter of the deputy could sense the tension between the two older warriors. She lowered her head a bit and kept her tail low, trying to not get in the way of the short-tempered she-cat. After all, she had nothing to do with their personal issues. She was only here to follow orders and that was what she did. Hailsong walked away from the two other warriors and chose a nice spot to fish.

Ravenflight trailed behind the rest of the patrol silently. She could tell that Silverfang was in a worse mood than usual, and she didn't want to face her wrath. She wavered for a split second as the older she-cat instructed them to go and hunt, but before a moment had passed she turned away and trotted off briskly. She quickly scented a thrush, pecking at the dirt. Without hesitation, she dropped into a hunting crouch, stalking the bird carefully before leaping on her prey. The thrush dead beneath her paws, she lowered her head and scooped it up in her jaws. Hastily, she bad touch dirt over it and padded softly away to find another piece of prey.

Batfang followed the patrol with same bad mods as Silverfang’s. Although both of them had similar personalities and in other circumstances they could have been good friends, thanks to their past he only saw her as a brat who never learned how to control her temper.

The warrior barely moved his tail at Silverfang’s orders and he left the group to hunt something. He was lucky. A large hare who seemed lost and far away from his its home was drinking from the river. The animal wondered too far from the Gorge, it seemed, and Batfang wasn’t going to lose a chance like this one. The warrior approached it slowly and even if he wasn’t used to hunt this kind of prey, he managed to sunk his fangs into its neck.

Silverfang didn't mind any of her clanmates while she silently followed the footsteps of what it seemed to be a frog. She followed it to a bunch of reeds where she could see some movements. The experienced warrior surrounded the plant quietly and her odd eyes spotted the small animal hiding there. She smiled and jumped for it when it was distracted. With a perfect technique, she trapped the small creature between her paws and then she ended the job sinking her fangs into the flesh.

Smiling arrogantly, she walked back to where she started and left the prey there, ready for another catch.


Hailsong, instead, decided to go for the typical prey. The small she-cat made her way to the river and she walked into it until she saw some fishes around. Crouching a bit, she waited and the time came, the warrior hit the animal with one paw. The fish flew to the shore where it started to struggle to jump to the river but the calico she-cat was faster and she killed with one bite.

The deputy's daughter dropped the dead fish next to Silverfang's fresh-kill but she noticed Batfang with a big prey in his mouth. The she-cat's eye widened in surprise when she finally realized it was a hare. "That hare is huge..." She mewed surprised. It wasn't the usual Riverclan's prey but it would surely feed a few kits with such a size.

Ravenflight lifted her head sharply at the scent of mouse. She spotted the scrawny creature, scuffling meekly in the dirt a few fox-lengths away. Instinctively dropping low into a hunting crouch, she took gentle pawsteps towards her quarry, careful not to disturb it in its peaceful endeavors. Once she was close enough, she pushed off the ground with her powerful back legs. She landed on all four paws, the small rodent nowhere to be seen. "Mouse dung," she breathed softly. She shook her head and turned to search for her Clanmates.

Batfang just acknowledged Hailsong’s comment with a respectful nod and he dropped his catch next to the others. It wasn’t like he didn’t mind the she-cat’s compliment... he was just not used to kindness except from his own mate.

The spotted warrior walked away from the group once more but this time he went to the river. As the experienced he was, Batfang caught a fish with his jaws when he swiftly sunk his head into the water. Although his head’s fur was wet, the Riverclan warrior didn’t complain since he captured the prey just like he wanted.
