Sparrowkit and Starlingkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The black and white leader found himself hesitating once more as he approached the tallbranch. But, there was barely a pause before leaped up into the place Crowstar had stood so many times. For now, the former leader's scent still lingered. He stared down at the claw marks of his friend and mentor. There was a pang of sadness in his chest. Yet, he had to keep moving on. Clan life continued on even if the sense of loss still lingered in the hearts of every cat here. Rippedstar was learning to push himself through all of this. Skyclan needed a leader who led well, not one who wallowed in his own sadness and loss.

"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Finally, his yowl rose clear and strong throughout their camp. His grandkits, Sedgestrike and Echoflame's daughters, would be starting their training after today. If his former apprentice hadn't already been training Honeypaw, he might have considered giving one of the mischevious kits to their father. However, Sedgestrike was escaping that fate. He already had mentors in mind for the pair. As he waited upon the tallbranch, his blue eyes scanned below for the black and white kits, hoping he would pick out the right one of the twins this time.

Sparrowkit raced out of the den. She looked at her twin with a mischevious twinkle in her eye as she slid to a stop right below the tallbranch with wide excited eyes. It was finally time!

The leader caught the exchange of looks between the pair and suppressed a sigh. Had it been days earlier, he likely would have chuckled at the kits' antics. However, it was less than amusing to the now stoic leader. His tail tip twitched slightly as his blue gaze was cast over them. Starclan help their mentors. He would be making sure to keep an eye on them. There was no room for a lack of focus in training. Everyone needed to be prepared in case of another dog attack. Besides, they could not afford more apprentices like Sedgestrike. Thankfully, the young warrior had grown well. But, Rippedstar couldn't help but wonder if his patience had been a bad thing. He was briefly lost in his own thoughts again.

"Kits have once again reached the age of six moons, and therefore are ready to begin their training. Sparrowkit, Starlingkit, please step forward." Rippedstar meowed as he briefly glanced at the faces of his clanmates. The mentors were here, and he hoped they were ready, "From this day forward, Sparrowkit, you will be known as Sparrowpaw. Russetpelt, you are ready to take on an apprentice. I trust you will pass on your patience and loyalty to the clan. And Starlingkit, you will know as Starlingpaw. Tinylegs is an experienced warrior and I know he will pass on all the experience and wisdom he has." Once he was finished, he let the yowls of approval rise into the air. Unfortunately, with wounds still fresh, they were not as enthusiastic as they had been before the former leader's death. He reflected that same feeling. The black and white tom leaped down and meowed a quick congratulations before disappearing into Crowstar's den.

Hearing his name be called, Tinylegs padded over to Starlingpaw, his new apprentice and touched noses with the younger cat. "I can't wait to begin training with you," the little tom mewed with a smile, glad to have another apprentice to teach the warrior code to.

When Russetpelt heard his name he padded right over to Sparrowpaw. ”I’ll teach you all I know,” He purred

Sparrowpaw strode forward with a confident huff. She leaned to press noses to Russetpelt with a critical eye that was more used to picking out it's next pranking target.
"You better. If you don't, I'm sure my parents would have something to say." She boasted confidently, before she turned to Starlingpaw with a cocky gleam. "Heh, those other apprentices don't stand a chance."

Starlingpaw snarled at Tinylegs. "I got the weirdest warrior in all of SkyClan? Look at this, I'm almost taller than you!" she hissed angrily. At least her twin sister got someone coolish. She narrowed her eyes. Tinylegs would have hell with her.
