Waiting for the Sun [Event]

Amberpaw padded out of the apprentice's den, her body tense as she looked around the clan. Tension was in the air, there was a real threat of dogs on the territory and it frightened her, dogs were much more dangerous than badgers, or so she heard. She never wanted to face a dog. Ever.

Crowstar stiffened as the familiar scent drifted over him. They were here? How? They stayed on the edges of the territory! The leader stood up quickly. "Warriors be on guard! Apprentices get inside the nursery and help the queens protect the kits!" He called to his clan. A low snarl broke through the tension of the camp followed by a growl. They were here. The leader quickly ushered the cats to the ready. He turned to face the dogs as they entered the camp. The ones that took one of his lives the other day.

Soon the dogs broke through the camp. One dog solid brown, and large as the Sharptooth itself it seemed. It seemed to be the leader. It stood tall and bulky. Ready to attack this group of cats. The second was a black and white dog. It was smaller and thinner than the other but it didn't mean it wasn't as dangerous. Both of them let out a growl before they barked out their threats.

As soon as the snarling large dogs bursted into camp, Russetpelt leaped in front of Tinypaw. Looking left in right, checking to make sure his family was okay. ”Flea-pelts!” He hissed as he lunged at the large black dog, claws outstretched, lashing down onto the drooling beast.

Russetpelt used Jumping Strike! Dealing 10 HP and costing 20 SP.

Rippedsky was prepared to respond to the young she-cat, an apology for his remark that had edged on being harsh. However, the words died in his throat. A crashing from the entrance caused him to whip around. A scent hit his nostrils and immediately caused his fur to stand on end. Dog. They were here! Crowstar was already ordering the clan around and after a quick no to acknowledge he had heard, the deputy charged forwards, swiftly covering the ground between him and the brown dog. It was larger, more dangerous, and in order to protect his clan, it needed to be taken down.

He reared up on his hind legs and a furious snarl tore from his throat. A barrage of claws tore at the dog's maw, each one tearing away chunks of flesh and fur. The deputy's heart pounded and he longed to looked around camp and make sure everyone was okay. But, this was the best way to help. Rippedsky needed to drive these monsters away. Still spitting and hissing and lashing out, the black and white tom tried to make himself seem as big and terrifying as possible.

Rippedsky used rear-up to slash on the brown dog, dealing 17 damage and using 15 stamina.

He never found any of them by the time the noise at the camp's entrance caused him to jump to his feet at once. A terror similar to what he had felt when facing the fox all those moons ago as a young apprentice seemed to pound through his veins. Although, it did not freeze him this time. So much more than his own life was at stake. An image of Drizzlepaw flashed through his mind. Wherever she was, Mumblefoot needed to save his kit. Briefly, it occurred to him that maybe they had already gotten to her. It was mostly a surge of his protective nature and anger that drove him forwards. The little, tailless warrior raced forwards and leaped, using his Windclan speed and Skyclan hindlegs, to get onto the brown dog's back. His claws dug in and he held on tight.

Mumblefoot used leap and hold, dealing 9 damage and using 10 stamina. Brown dog is held for 2 turns.

The stench of dog hit him the moment one of those foul beasts stuck their nose into the camp. Sedgestrike felt his pelt rise in agitation as Crowstar stood up to the dogs and Sedgestrike immediately plunged in behind Russetpelt and Rippedsky. His claws already bared to slash and strike at the dogs to protect his kin. Echoflame at the forefront of his mind as well as his kits. They were too close. These beasts were too close. Sedgestrike launched himself at the lead dog, sinking his claws into its pelt as Rippedsky held onto it.

Ripplepaw yawned, rolling over again. She was about to drift asleep when terrible growls and snarls reached her ears. Quick as a flash, she was on her paws, ignoring her injured leg. She backed up, fur bristling and eyes wide with fear. No. No no no. NononononononoNO! It couldn’t be happening! Not here, not now! But it was, because two dogs were in the camp. Ripplepaw was about to follow Crowstar’s orders and get into the nursery, but stopped herself. You should be out there, right now, fighting with the warriors. No, she shouldn’t. She was a bad fighter. She was almost as bad at fighting as she was at hunting. Coward. She wasn’t a coward. Prove it. Go fight. Mousebrain. That was enough arguing with herself. Ripplepaw charged forwards as fast as she could, towards the slightly smaller dog. She crouched down low, slipping forwards to rake her claws along the dog’s face. A little hiss escaped her, but she couldn’t yowl in fury. She was too scared.

Ripplepaw used Front Paw Strike on the Black dog, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.

IC: Pineheart had stayed in the deep corner of the Skyclan den as the tensions escalated. She didn't like the fear in the air- it reminded her too much of Bear and the barn. So instead the fluffy tabby spent as much time she can outside of camp exploring and relishing the peace.

But today she was in camp. She was just about to doze off when the semi-deaf she-cat heard a bone-chilling noise.

Barking.

Pineheart didn't waste a moment of hesitance. The second she got to her feet she burst out of the side of the bush, burly forepaws outstretched and unsheathed, aiming at the black dog. She was relying almost entirely on the reflexes she was taught in the city.. "For Skyclan!" She caterwauled shrilly as she bounded.

And then she struck. As the former rogue got closer to the mangy black mutt she leaped off the rocky ground and at it's hide. Her claws landed first, so suddenly her forelegs jarred. Once she got leverage she scrambled towards the dog's head. Before she really had a plan of action she dug in her claws and sunk her teeth into it's floppy ear. A familiar metallic taste flooded her mouth but she kept on biting, raking her forelegs through it's scruff as well.


But just as Pineheart was getting her teeth properly in her hindlegs slipped. Her body tumbled forward in a painful matter. She found herself dangling just by her teeth. Before she could readjust herself, the bloody ear snapped alltogether and she tumbled townwards, landing with a slight huff. She tried to pull herself up, but it took her some time to just get rolled back onto her belly, all the time hoping it wouldn't strike her.

Echo saw the dogs and she was scared. She did as Crowstar told and stayed in front of the nursery. She spread her legs, extended her neck, and puffed out her fur so she'd be twice her size. She never had to defend her old tribe from vicious beasts. She just did what she remembered the cave guards did. She fixed a fierce look on the dogs, specifically the black and white one, since she stood a better chance, and started pacing back and forth in front of the entrance snarling. Did she look like a tough cave guard? No, not really.

Moonlight was inside the nursery, trying her best to rest and stay calm, but the news of dogs weren’t exactly comforting. Almost instinctively she gave a couple of licks to her belly, more specifically to the growing lives she knew that were slowly growing inside her. As she did, the queen did her best to push away the thought of what could happen if a dog managed to get in the camp and then nursery. She would fight, of course, for the lives of both born and unborn kits, hers or not. She was in no way a coward…but she had heard that fights could lead to miscarriages and just thinking on losing her unborn kits was enough to make her heart race and fur stand on end.

No….nonono…calm yourself, Moonlight, you gotta focus…we have strong warriors, and both Crowstar and Rippedsky are at camp if things take a turn for the worst. You can’t keep thinking negatively like this…plus, what are even the chances of-

And then the loud barking and snarling forced her out of her thoughts “Oh, no!” Quickly abandoning her warm nest she rushed to the entrance, her eyes landing on the two dogs. With her heart racing she quickly yet a bit clumsily stumbled backwards with fur on end and teeth bared on a loud snarl Please don’t come here, please don’t come here…oh StarClan, please help us…

Hawkstrike listened to the news from his spot in the warriors’ den with an unusually calm gaze. Dogs…just what the clan needed now, right? With a low growl the tom stretched a bit and yawned, he wasn’t going to let some bags of fleas scare him. He was a warrior, and a strong one regardless of his smaller than average size, if they gave the order he would be the first one to walk out of camp and go straight to kill those pests.

And it was then when the dogs broke in, barking and snarling like if they could intimidate them.

“Well, that solves one issue” He said almost to himself, realizing he no longer had to head out and look for them. He took a quick glance to the dogs and immediately picked the brown one. It was bigger, stronger, a suitable rival. With a war yowl he dashed forwards with claws unsheathed, it had been a long time since the last time he had a good fight and he couldn’t wait to spill some enemy blood, cat, dog, even twoleg if needed.

Taking advantage of his smaller size and the distraction caused by the rest of the cats attacking it he dashed under the brown dog’s belly and used his sharp claws in an attempt to cause as much damage as possible.

Ever since the incredibly ill-fated encounter with the dogs, Elmcloud had been out scouring the forest in search of the mutt that he had fought against alongside Crowstar. Although his paws had been worn raw by his constant racing through the forest in search of the drooling creature, it had done little to slow his vengeful search. After witnessing what the dog had so easily done to his adoptive father, he was determined to ensure that no other cat suffered the same fate. After what seemed like countless hours of searching, with only the occasional run-in with a few of his Clanmates to show in return, he was finally forcing himself to head back to camp for the evening. He could start fresh in the morning with a patrol. He had promised himself in hopes of relieving the despairing pit of hopelessness that opened up deep within his gut at the thought. Tail dragging in the leaf-litter, Elmcloud continued his despondent trudge back to camp, head hanging low as he did so. Nagging and anxious thoughts bubbled and frothed within his veins, filling his head with storm of anxiety- a storm so overwhelming that he almost didn't hear the commotion coming from the camp. Almost.

The plethora of voices crying out from within the camp sent chills down his spine, but it was the unpleasantly familiar sound of barking that really kicked him into movement. Scrambling forward with such sudden intensity that his paws skidded across the carpet of dead leaves, Elmcloud found himself racing forwards with a speed that seemed unreal. Crashing through the brittle camp barrier unceremoniously, the ruddy tom was greeted with the sight of his Clanmates locked into combat against the hulking forms of two dogs. A sense of dread and overwhelming anger, similar to how he had initially reacted whenever he and Crowstar had stumbled across the first dog, kindled within his gut, resulting in his fur bristling and spiking in a near comical manner. After a brief, futile search for the familiar pelt of his adoptive father, the ruddy tom was finally jolted into action alongside the rest of his Clanmates.

Slithering forward in the direction of the closest dog, Elmcloud lowered his shoulder as he flung himself into the black dog's side, sending it staggering for a brief moment.

Crowstar was glad to see so many jumping up to action to defend the clan from the dogs, but he couldn't shake the feeling of losing one of them to these monsters. He couldn't let them fight on their own, he wouldn't let them die! The black fluffy leader let out a yowl before sliding under the brown dog, and clawing at it's soft underbelly. He needed to deal as much damage as possible.

The brown dog let out a growl recognizing the cat that had chased him off the other day.  The brown dog bark at the pain from the numerous cats attacking him, before it bite at the closest cat to it.

The black dog didn't mind that he was being attacked, instead of howling in anger and in pain it remained calm, and wanted to deal as much damage as it could. The black dog swung it's heavy paw at the closest cat it could reach, which happened to be Tinypaw.

The dogs were here. Blossomheart had stood there, stunned, for most of the part, but she knew she had to do something. As her daughter fell to the ground, she snapped and attacked the dog. No one was messing with her family, not while she was around! She unsheathed her claws to run and leap at the black dog. It would pay.
