The Sun Shines on SkyClan Once More [Tensions Part Two, Open]

As Swiftpaw drug himself and the kit back to camp, he couldn't help but start shivering, but not because of the cold. This poor kit was cold as ice, and wasn't moving anymore. He knew nothing about kits, so he didn't know if they had found her too late or not. As soon as he passed the entrance to camp, he ran into Mintpaw's den, still carrying the kit by its scruff. He was still at a full run, so he had to skid to a stop inside of the den. He gently placed the kit on the ground in front of Mintpaw, taking just a second to breathe before he darted back out of her den, no explanation. He had to tell Crowstar, and Rippedsky too! The fluffy white tom ran to Crowstar's den as quickly as he could, happy to spot Rippedsky nearby the entrance to the den. With a big huff as he halted by the barrier between him and his mentor. "Crowstar, Rippedsky! There's a kit out here, and it has no scent!" The young tom yowled to the cats with authority. He was sure Mintpaw was confused by his sudden appearance and disappearance, but hopefully, she heard his call and knew what to do. He was very worried about the small, frail kit, and it showed on his features.

Blossomheart jumped up from her nest. A lost kit? That was terrible! She darted out of her den. "Is it okay? Will it be alright? Oh, Starclan, it's terrible outside! It's a wonder it's even alive... Isn't it alive?"

The wind that whipped the blizzard around whistled through the treetops and made it difficult to hear. However, the protection of their camp kept most of the weather from blowing across his vision. Rippedsky had been pacing the internal length of camp as he awaited the pair of cats to return. They had been sent out to help retrieve another patrol that had been finishing up when the storm had hit. Those warriors had returned shortly after Echoflame and Swiftpaw left. Knowing his daughter was out there in this blizzard had him on edge. He had prayed silently to Starclan the whole time that that would be returned swiftly and in good condition. It appeared those prayers had been answered. A sigh of relief came from the deputy's chest as he saw movement at the entrance.

The apprentice quickly rushed to the medicine cat's den and worry came to him once more. Within moments, he was at their side and saw what the matter was. Swiftpaw's words had been cut away by the strong currents of wind, yet the meaning of it. They had found a kit! Not only had they managed to brave the storm, but they had rescued an innocent life in the process. Echoflame was an excellent warrior already, and Swiftpaw because of this and many other features, was well on his way. As a shiver came from the little kit, he turned his blue gaze to her immediately. How on earth did she survive? That thought to died away with the idea that they simply needed to take care of her. Crowstar would likely take pity on such a small scrap and agree to care for her, so he was not worried about that much.

"Mintpaw? Do you think she will be okay?" Rippedsky meowed seriously before turning to Swiftpaw, "Do you have any idea where you found her? In the storm... likely no idea, but it would be helpful to know."

It was still so cold. Where was she? Home? Wherever the two cats who had found her had taken her, there were more cats here. So many of them, and she felt so small surrounded by so many much larger cats. She heard them speaking, but she wasn't really paying attention to the words, instead still trying to get the cold off of her.

The small kit peaked his head from out of the nursery, the ruckus in the clearing had made him wake up from his mid-day nap. His orb-like eyes stared upward at a kit who didn't seem normal, but he couldn't place it. Hailkit wanted to go up to them and ask what was wrong but the urgency and fear in their voices made his confidence to go and ask plummet, so he waited to see what would happen next.

Mintpaw cooed softly at the little kit as she walked around her, inspecting her from head to tail. The little golden she-cat was surprisingly strong, and although she was confused and rather frightened, there was nothing that suggested she wouldn't recover. The small apprentice's main concern was the kit's tail, paws and ears, which could've suffered frostbite. Luckily, the kit seemed to have made it out of the cold just in the nick of time. Mintpaw turned, ignoring the warrior's questions, and began nosing through her supplies. Juniper berries... thyme perhaps, with a dash of honey... She was afraid to give the little kit any lavender- too many herbs at once could be dangerous for her -so she left it at that and turned around with a small bundle of herbs, with a small splash of honey on top. "Eat t-this, little one." She kept her voice soft when she addressed the kit, but her expression hardened as she turned to the older cats. "She'll be fine, R-Rippedsky. Perhaps a little cold, b-but that's nothing. I wouldn't bother looking for h-her parents- I doubt we'd be able to find them i-in this weather, anyways. T-the most important thing to do n-now is get her in the nursery. A good sleep and something to e-eat that isn't herbs would do her some good. Blossomheart, you've h-had a litter recently, haven't you?" As she spoke, Mintpaw stroked the golden she-cat with her tail in an effort to warm her up. Still, she spoke quickly. The strange kit needed things to be done quickly and smoothly. Despite her stable condition, something could still go wrong and Mintpaw wasn't going to breathe easily until the kit was safely tucked away inside the nursery.

OOC: Blossomfall's a good name, but it's Blossomheart, unless that was intended or you meant someone else ;)

IC: Blossomheart nodded in small surprise. "Yes, I did. Do you want me to mother the kit?"

"If you would be willing, Blossomheart, this kit could use the warmth of your litter right now. For now, raise her with your kits." Rippedsky sighed with relief at Mintpaw's words. He was pleased with her suggestion too. The young warrior and queen would be a good mother for the kit for now. They could look for parents later, but he feared they would not be found. The storm had been brutal and the little she-cat seemed lost and confused. But, other than over her wellbeing, they could worry later. Now was time for rest. With the winds still howling outside, no cat would be leaving camp anytime soon.

As soon as Mintpaw had set to work checking out the kit, Rippedsky knew things would be handled well. However, before retreating he glanced over at the brightly colored she-kit. Even in the dimness of the storm, she was bright. He smiled softly, "Sunkit. Take Sunkit to the nursery and make sure she is tucked away between all the kits and queens. We will talk later." He waved his tail goodbye before stepping out into the snow and heading for the warrior's den to do one last check before settling down himself.
