The Wild Hunting Patrol

Wildpaw walked up to the camp entrance and sat down. He where gonna go on a patrol, since leaf-bare wasn't over yet prey where still running low and the prey-pile wern't to full. He slowly started grooming his dappled pelt while waiting.
Being the impatient young tom he was he where already starting to get really impatient 'If no one comes soon I'll head out alone' he thought.

"Need some company?" Wildpaw's mentor spoke from behind. Scorchfang smiled and padded over to his little brother. "I can see you want to go on a hunting patrol. Well, I do, too. The Clan needs to be fed." Wildpaw could see that his ribs could just barely be seen through his thick fur, and his normally bright orange eyes were dull with fatigue and hunger.

He glanced sadly at his brothers ribs and nodded "Yeah.. Um is it always like this?
Or will it be better in newleaf?" he asked quietly and looked at his brother.

Scorchfang smiled kindly to his brother. "Don't worry, it will get better once newleaf begins." He suddenly looked very concerned. "Speaking of which, are you getting enough to eat? Well, as much as you can eat considering what time of year it is."

Silentpaw padded up hesitantly "M-mind if I come? I-if it's not too much bother that is..." She was still a bit nervous around Wildpaw after his outburst during the more recent clan meeting. She hadn't realized how much disdain he held for her gender, and seeing him just brought back questions of his thoughts towards her. She turned her azure gaze to Scorchfang. She could rely on him though, she knew he would look out for her if the situation needed it.

He turned around and saw his younger sister, the only she-cat he actually liked at the moment. He smiled sligtly towards her and nodded "Ofcourse you wouldn't be a bother, not you" he meowed. He then turned back to his brother "Yeah I guess I'm eating enough, I know I look thin but I can do it. You know we have to leave food to the wea.. um to the elders and queen" he quickly stopped himself form saying something stupid, he didn't care that his brother would yell at him but he didn't want to hurt his sister.

Scorchfang narrowed his eyes a little at the mistake Wildpaw almost made. Then he looked over at Silentpaw and purred. "We'll all be happy to have you join us."

She visibly relaxed. The she-cat was always so tense when approaching people. Honestly if she could avoid it, she would but her brothers were the closest people to her. If she couldn't talk to them, she'd never be able to grow out of her timid ways. She dipped her head slightly, mumbling a soft "Th-thank you."

Wildpaw lower his ears a little and glanced at his brother when he realized that he had noticed what he almost had said. He then wisperd to his older brother "She's our sister I would never hurt her on purpose". He then turned to his sister "Should we get going?" he asked with a happy meow.

Scorchfang frowned a little and whispered back, "I appreciate that, but you shouldn't be hurting the rest of your Clanmates on purpose, either." He then stood straighter. "Unless you two want to wait for anyone else, we can go. The sooner we catch prey, the sooner the Clan can eat."

Silentpaw nodded, blissfully unaware of their whispered words. "I-I'm ready to go whenever you two are."

He glared a little at Scorchfang but decided not to say anything because he knew deep inside that his brother where right. "Um yeah let's go now then" he meowed and quickly turned around and walked out of camp.
