Swiftpaw followed alongside Swirlpaw and Foxhunter, glad to be out on patrol. To other cats, the leafbare chill bothered them and they preferred to stay in camp where it was warmer, but Swiftpaw's long fur prevented him from feeling any of the cold, so he loved to be in the territory. His green eyes scanned the trees for any movement, hoping he would see a bird, that way he could contribute to the Clan. He'd been an apprentice for some time now, so he figured that he needed to work a little harder to earn his name. As the trio of cats moved along the outskirts of SkyClan territory, it wasn't long before the scent of RiverClan grew even stronger, burning the SkyClanners noses. The group remained alert, watching out for any signs of an enemy patrol.

Foxhunter didn't have a problem with leading a patrol with apprentices like other warriors might have. For him, any duty was a way to say thanks to the clan that let him stay in the clan where he could create a family.

The spotted tom walked with the younger cats, leading them to the ends of Skyclan lands for a border check. But the peace of the trip was soon interrupted by the scent of Riverclan cats. He lifted his tail as a sign to the apprentices to stay alert and to be careful. Slowly, the warrior approached the border, keeping an eye on Riverclan's side.

Wrenpaw walked with the RiverClan patrol, marking the borders. Wrenpaw suddenly smelled another scent, a strange scent. "I smell something! What cat scent is this?" she asked one of the warriors as she scented other cats.
