Ivypaw's Warrior Ceremony

Leopardclaw leaped up onto the Highrock, and called out to the clan; "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

Ivypaw stood up from her sun bath. She was a little annoyed that she had to get up (me), because they rarely got any nice sun during leaf-bare. Though she was very curious so see what this was about. She knew her ceremony would be soon, though she wasn’t there that it was today.

With a smile, Leopardclaw gazed down at his daughter and purred; "Ivypaw, step forward."

Ivypaw’s eyes widened and her heart skipped a beat. It was her ceremony! She padded forward, gazing up at her father, excitement rushing through her.

Taking a deep breath, Leopardclaw began the ceremony.  "I, Leopardclaw, deputy of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice.  She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn.  Ivypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

”I do,” Ivypaw meowed. She was anxious with excitement. What would her warrior name be? She ran through multiple ideas in her head. Whatever it was, she’d except it with pride.

Pride swelling in his chest, the golden spotted tom nodded approvingly.  "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name.  Ivypaw, from this moment on you will be known as Ivyshade.  StarClan honors your intelligence, swiftness, and adept hunting skills, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan."  Leaping down from the Highrock, Leopardclaw rested his chin on the newly-named warrior's head with a purr, completing the formal part of the ceremony, before stepping back and cheering Ivyshade's new name with the rest of the clan.
