Deerkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled commandingly.

Gustpuddle padded below the Tallrock, her thick gray fur protecting her from the cold weather. She'd heard Ashstar's call and dropped what she was doing, sitting down to listen to what she had to say.

Deerkit had definitely outgrown his nest in the nursery, seeing as his legs were now rather long and a bit disproportionate to his unmuscled body. He stepped out into the snow and made himself a place to sit and listen to Ashstar. He hoped it was a ceremony, those were usually pretty interesting to watch.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Deerkit, step forwards. You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Deerpaw. Your mentor will be Gustpuddle. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Gustpuddle stepped closer to Deerpaw, nodding at him. "Congratulations. We'll start training tomorrow, so make sure you are prepared." The tiny she-cat said to the newly named apprentice.

The young tom's ears perked when his name was called, and he stood up to hear himself be made an apprentice. His bright eyes shifted to the grey she-cat who was to be his mentor and dipped his head in return. The newly named Deerpaw held a straight face, but his tail betrayed his excitement for what was to come.
