January Medicine Cat Meeting 2018

There was a nervousness to Mottleheart as he paced back and forth in front the Mothermouth. He wasn't surprised that he and Featherpaw were the first to arrive - they were the closest Clan to it after all but there was something...Odd about being in front of such an important site and it being just the two of them. He had never truly even been here before as this was his first meeting but yet he could feel how familiar this all was. Like it was natural that he was suppose to be here. He peered up to scan the horizon for any moving figures as the moon hung silently in the sky. Hopefully the other medicine cats would arrive soon. His ear twitched, wondering if Honeyspark would be coming since her return to ThunderClan.

OCC: I'm going to say that this takes after the Gathering so that Honeyspark may be here to lead Maplepaw to this.

Cloudstone's paws did not drag as they had done during the last meeting, for he had an apprentice in tow. This would be his fourth - a number he could never have fathomed when he first became a medicine cat - a snarky she-cat named Goldenpaw. He had his paws full dealing with her, sometimes he wondered if she would have been better off as a warrior apprentice. But then, of course, she showed incredible promise. He was surprised to see a tom he thought was a WindClan warrior sitting near Mothermouth, next to Featherpaw, who he had met before. His dark eyes trained on the stony fangs shooting down from the cavern's ceiling before he greeted Mottleheart with a wordless mrrow.

Goldenpaw was walking close to her mentor, her strides longer to keep up with her mentor. Goldenpaw recognized the apprentice, Featherpaw from the gatherings, same with the older tom, but there was something very odd to him. The young she-cat soon overtook her mentor and stopped to talk to Featherpaw and Mottleheart... that was his name, right? "Hey Featherpaw, I was trying out something with my clan-mates, and I found that if you wash your paws before treating wounds, you can decrease the chance of infection? Isn't that cool?" Goldenpaw meowed animatedly, holding her head high at her discovery.

Oceanlight padded through the snow. It was through SkyClan territory, then ThunderClan, then a quick rest at Fourtrees, then through WindClan. A part of her wished SkyClan territory was closer to Highstones, but she liked the trees and the rocks too much. She saw Highstones and climbed up. She dipped her head in greeting. "Hello, everyone." she greeted with a dip of the head. She heard Goldenpaw talk about her discovery. "That's right. In Greenleaf, I like to clean my paws with a little bit of oak leaf before handling patients." she added.

Featherpaw felt far more at ease here than she had at the crowded gathering - not only were there less cats, they were her fellow medicine cats. She took pride in her position and the work she put into trying to make her mentor proud, though she still found herself slightly skittish around him - as though he might mysteriously disappear if she acknowledged his presence. Then again, there was precedence for that, but she supposed it was something she should deal with soon.

Regardless, that didn't mean much at the moment. She was just happy to not be alone here. Goldenpaw spoke to her, seeming friendly enough, and she considered the words. "That does make a lot of sense," were the words with which she decided to respond. "It sounds like another good thing to remember."

Sycamorepaw padded up. He was sad and his eyes were dark. He missed Roaringblaze. Maybe he would dream with him tonight, or find out where he was. As he approached the group he tried not to stare at Featherpaw. Blinking, the tom did a huge as he sat down. Not in rudeness just... Lostness. He looked down at the stone. He didn't feel like his normal self today.

Maplepaw walked up to the gathering medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices. She felt sadness weigh down her quivering heart. She was very nervous and unfortunately it showed on her face. Her usual warm green eyes were clouded over with worry. Honeyspark had brought her close to where they were meeting but left. Honeyspark had told her that she was no longer following the path of the medicine cat. Maplepaw's heart broke when she heard those words come out of her former mentor's mouth. Honeyspark would still be guiding her but not as an official mentor. Maplepaw was now on her own. She had done fairly well when Honeyspark was held hostage. The young apprentice managed to heal her clan-mates and restore their strength. Once she was close enough, Maplepaw bowed her head in a formal greeting. She never looked up at the other cats. She just couldn't face them now that her mentor wasn't with her, at least not now.
