Kestrelpaw vs a feather{closed}

FrostFeather yawned after a good nights sleep. She stretched then walked out of the warrior den smiling. Today she would bring kestrelpaw to the sandy hollow and teach her how to fight. She walked to the apprentice den and looked for the familiar pelt. When she saw it she walked towards her without waking the others and nudged her awake. "time to go." she whispered then left the den. She went to the entrance and waited for her apprentice.

Kestrelpaw had been sound asleep. Her dreams filled with rabbit fluff and cloudy nonsense until she felt a nudge. Jarred from her dream, she blinked blearily and looked up in time to see her mentor's grey tail leave the den. She yawned quietly, then fluffed her fur before she leapt to her paws to follow.

She yawned again, her blue eyes beginning to brighten as she looked around with a cheerful expression. It was time for a new lesson. Her heart leapt at the acknowledgement and she jumped ahead of Frostfeather with her usual exuberance.
"Where are we going today?" She asked cheerfully. "Are we going to hunt more rabbits? Oh, OH! Are we going on a patrol?" Her voice became excited as various ideas ran through her head. The little siamese coloured apprentice barely contained.

She smiled at the young cats hyperness. "I'm sorry no we are going to sandy hollow for battle training then yes we will do a territory patrol so I can teach you about the territory." she told kestrelpaw.

Kestrelpaw's eyes gleamed at the thought of battle training. Her bouncing rate dropped a bit as she contemplated all the things she could learn in this day. She hoped it would be enough to at least impress her mentor.
" Awesome! I'm going to be the best fighter ever!" She declared enthusiastically. Surely she could if she wanted to? She wasn't that great of a hunter, but if she could fight well? She could only imagine the places that skill would take her.

She smiled at how excited kestrelpaw was. "well then little fighter let's go." she said then led the way to sandy hollow. It wasn't a long walk but sure was fun. When she saw the sand she smiled and slowed her pace. When they got there she smiled at the younger cat. "what can you tell me about battling you don't need to know everything just a little stuff." she told her.

The snowy ground didn't stop Kestrelpaw from observing everything. She wanted and needed to see it all, shuffling through the snow with great curiousity as they travelled to the sandy hollow. When they got there, she walked to the sand and shivered as her paws met frost and freezing cold sand. When her mentor spoke, she looked up and thought about it for a moment.
"Don't get pinned... and... we're windclan so we rely on speed?" She questioned. She knew they were the fastest from other cats at camp and being pinned seemed like a terrible disadvantage.

She smiled at her knowledge. "very good now the other stuff you need to know is never let your guard up cause cats can be tricky, even when you feel like quitting remember your family and it will give you strength. And lastly never expose your belly." she said the the young apprentice.

Kestrelpaw nodded seriously, committing the words to memory.
"Guard up, Family, and never show my belly... got it." She repeated still shuffling about the sand excitedly.

She smiled at the young cat. "ok now I'm going to show you the move front paw strike." she said smiling. "watch and then repeat." she said then picked up a stick and placed it sticking up in the ground. She then slashed her paw on it.

Kestrelpaw nodded as she watched Frostfeather pick up a stick, then placed it in the ground. She looked at it curiously, intrigued until her mentor moved in with a quick slash. She walked closer at her words and eyed the piece of wood curiously as it laid in the sand. Readying her claws, she lashed out at it with determination to do her mentor proud.

Ic: she smiled with pride at kestrelpaw. "OK good now do it on this." she said picking up a bigger stick and placing it in the ground. "this time try and break it." she said sitting down to watch.

Kestrelpaw beamed at the praise, bouncing a little on her paws until the bigger stick was introduced. She looked at it thoughtfully, figuring out how strong it was. She noticed a thinner part, which she lunged for with a swift but firm strike.

She smiled at how well she was doing. "do you want to go to belly rake or keep practicing?" she asked getting to her paws.

The eager apprentice nodded, her eyes wide.
"I don't want to just learn belly rake, I want to learn them all!" She declared excitedly.

She laughed the looked around until she saw a tree with a brach that reached her head. "OK all you have to do is jump up and scratch the enemies belly. This move works wonders with owls." she said showing what to do. "now you try." she said.
