Sedgekit's Apprentice Ceremony

The black and white deputy made his way slowly over to the tallbranch. However, his pace quickened as the thought of another kit beginning their training flooded his mind. For so long he had thought of nothing more than staying alive. Now, he had the freedom to concern himself with different matters. Sedgekit was ready to begin his training. Rippedsky had already met the spirited, young tom. There was no doubt he would be a paw-full for sure. Once he finally reached the place on the tallbranch, allowing his claws to score the wood, he yowled, "[ color=#3300cc]Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting![/color]"

Sedgekit looked up from where he sat. He thought about simply not moving at all. Why should he? Then he remembered the day... how many moons it had been and jumped to his paws. Was this it? If it wasn't, Rippedsky was gonna hear it from him. Sedgekit nodded to himself imperiously and stepped towards the front of the crowd. His grey chest puffed out proudly.

He almost let out a chuckle as the young cat moved to the front of the crowd. There was an obvious excitement, no matter how much the kit pretended to act otherwise. Pulling himself back to attention, Rippedsky did not hesitate to continue on with the ceremony. Training needed to start as soon as possible, "Sedgekit, please step forwards." It was redundant, but not reciting the words as they were always said felt wrong. His ear twitched as he throat ached slightly from the yowl. Hopefully this would only continue to go away, "We gather once more to name another young cat as one of the clan's apprentices. Sedgekit is old enough to begin training. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sedgepaw. I will be your mentor."

Sedgekit stepped forward a couple more paces. His tail twitched with pride and excitement as Rippedsky began to speak, only to stop flat at the last part. His green eye narrowed, fur spiked in obvious disbelief.
"YOU!?" Sedgekit spat in surprise. No... this was the worst thing that could happen to a young kit like him "But you're so ... so... stuffy" He protested, then paused, realising abruptly that he was no longer a kit. He was a 'paw, he'd be expected to act like one...
