Blizzardstar stumbled off Ivystar with a hiss as she managed to duck out of her grasp, but didn’t gave this much of a thought before going ahead a second time. This felt awkward and somehow wrong to the white leader, as every single battle she had fought before this one had been at the side of the rest of the clans as they pursued a greater good. This was the first time she was forced to fight against another clan and cause potential suffering for both her opponents and her own clan…

She quickly shook her head to get rid of these thoughts, not wanting to give Ivystar an opening she could use to attack her. She didn’t like this war, but this was not the time, nor the place to think about that. She used her chance as Ivystar regained her posture to get under her belly and slash at it with her hind paws before getting back on her paws.

She bucked once more and sent the black-and-white warrior flying off of her and crashing onto the ground nearby. With a hiss Sharptooth rounded on her, looming down menacingly.

As soon as the screeches of war started, Artemis launched himself from his hiding place. None of the Thunderclan cats knew he was there, or knew him, except for Blizzard Star. That did not matter. He would fight alongside them as fiercely as if he was defending the Oasis against attack. Given it was a peaceful place, that had been rare, but he had fought his fair share in the defense of cats who were unable to defend themselves. Thunderclan was much better off than some, and while he was not entirely sure the specifics of it, he knew well enough that they were a side worth fighting for. His paws barely touched the earth as he dodged through fighting cats, eyes on Blizzard Star. But, something else caught his attention first. The apprentices.

His gaze darkened. So many young cats fighting a battle in the middle of winter, a battle that might not even specifically be their own. Yet, they all fought for their leaders. The white she-cat would be able to hold her own. Artemis quickly made up his mind to attempt to knock out the first Riverclan apprentice he saw. No damage would be done. In fact, his hope is that they would just be removed from the fight and be allowed to go back to seek refuge in their camp walls. At the thought, his eyes began to glisten with the first spark of hope. Some fighting was necessary, but at what cost was this? If he could do anything to help any cats on the field, he would. But, again, there was only so much to be done.

The tom finally settled on Yarrowpaw. Charging forwards, he aimed to plow into the younger cat with his shoulder. Given the apprentice had not seen him, it was not a difficult take. There would most likely be surprise since he held no real allegiance to either of the clans. Had circumstance been different, a smirk would have come across the tom's face. Although, one such look did not appear today. His eyes were steel as he looked at the clan cat now on the forest floor. Quickly, a meowed escaped his mouth, a bit of pure curiosity, but also a genuine question escaped his maw, "What are you even fighting for, young one?" It was not meant to be an insult, and there was no such undertone in the words. Artemis stood prepared for an attack and no answer, yet he found himself hoping for something more.

Artemis used run and tackle on Yarrowpaw. Dealing 9 +3 damage, and using 10 stamina.

Blizzardstar regretted the yowl she gave to Ivystar when she felt the water cover her head and replaced the oxygen that her lungs were starting to demand, causing her to struggle and try to pull away from the river with all her might, not caring about any potential injury that could cause to her not getting free from the RiverClan leader’s grasp. It was better to have some bleeding wonds to tend after this than drowning, that was for sure.

It took her some time and a pinch of desperation, but in the end the white leader managed to get free from the silver tabby’s grasp and fill her lungs with oxygen once more.


Blizzardstar is no longer stunned

Lakewhisper's fiery gaze softened when Snowblossom spoke to him. "Of course I will. You too, okay Snowblossom?" He meowed a bit playfully, trying to help lighten her up. He knew how nervous she was for this war, and the only thing he was worried about was her and Splashwillow. If they got hurt.. StarClan help ThunderClan.. Shaking away the worrisome thoughts, he cleared his mind. Time to focus on the battle ahead. It'll be any moment now.. As soon as the thought left his mind, Ivystar was commanding them to attack, and he was suddenly blindsided by an apprentice. Growling ferociously, the black striped tom shoved the apprentice towards the river, keeping her head under the water with his huge white paws.
