Reedkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Today was going to be a long day. Finally, Silverfang's litter was old enough to become apprentices and today he would start with Reedkit. Jumping to the Willow Branch, Jaystream looked at his clan for a second before talking. "Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting." He said loudly as he searched for the young tom with his green eyes. The first one of five kits...

Silverfang listened to the call and hurried her kits so they would come too to the clan meeting. She sat down and looked at his uncle with a proud look. Her kits were now going to be apprentices! She couldn't be happier. All of them were going to be strong Riverclan warriors just like her and their father.

Reedkit trotted with his tail and head held high.  With his mother nudging him and his siblings, he knew it must be a very important meeting.

"Reedkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and now it is time for you to be apprenticed. From now on you will be known as Reedpaw until the day you're ready to become a warrior and your mentor will be Amberpelt. She's a well-skilled and experienced warrior so I have no doubts that she will train you in the best way. Do your best, Reedpaw." Jaystream watched from the top the moment when mentor and apprentices touched their noses and then he jumped off the branch, joining briefly the celebration before leaving. He wasn't the type of cat that enjoyed big crowds around him.

The silvery she-cat mewed his new name with pride and she pushed her kit gently so he would go to his new mentor. "Go, Reedpaw. Be sure to prove that you earn this new rank." She purred as she saw how he left her side to go with Amberpelt, his new mentor.

Reedpaw nodded gratefully towards the clan's deputy. "Thank you Jaystream." He was so excited to begin training, but he did not let it show. Since he was no longer a kit he needed to hold himself to higher standards. He looked around and connected eyes with his mentor. "I look forward to training." He said to Amberpelt after they had touched noses.
