Maplecloud's Name Changing Ceremony

Blizzardstar climbed onto the Highrock after letting out a long sigh. Maplecloud had just finished eating and it was time for her name changing ceremony “All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Highrock for a clan meeting”.

Arriving just after Blizzardstar, Maplecloud sat right underneath the Highrock, waiting for her to begin the ceremony.

Blizzardstar smiled at Maplecloud as she approached alongside the rest of the clan, she took a deep breath before continuing “Maplecloud, step forward” Her voice was close to a purr at this point. In these harsh times it was nice to have some good news to share “StarClan showed you the way back to your clan after being lost for this long, and I think I’m speaking for the whole clan when I say that we are happy to have you back between us. However, this experience changed you, and as such you decided your old name no longer fits you. Is this correct?” Blizzardstar made her intentions clear without telling them out-loud, she was giving her one last chance to take back her request before her name was changed.

"Yes, that is correct." She nodded, looking straight into Blizzardstar's blue eyes. Maplecloud didn't want to go back now. She just hoped the Clan would accept her back.

Blizzardstar sighed and nodded, there was no going back now "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on she will be known as Dustcloud, for the stardust that showed her the way back home" She looked down at Dustcloud with half a smile, it was going to take her some time to get used to her old friend's new name.

Dustcloud smiled back at Blizzardstar, ready to get back into the swing of things in the Clan. She'd definitely need to prove herself to her clanmates, but she didn't have a problem with that. "Thank you, Blizzardstar."
