Family Get-Together [Closed]

Leaf-bare was hard. Silentstrom knew this, but with it being so sudden, he couldn't help but be a little surprised. Leaf-bare had just come so fast, and time was flying by. As usual, Silentstrike was sitting down to eat before he continued doing whatever it was that he was doing, except this time, he had nothing to do. He was free for the rest of the afternoon, which was a rare occurrence. He would take his time eating and talk to whoever it was that decided to talk to him. Heck, he could have a full conversation or two. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile, picking a hare that hadn't been doing too badly, considering the season and lack of food. He hoped he'd be able to share it with Quailfeather, or Laurelsong. He knew Nectarleap wasn't an option, he'd just watched him leave for a border patrol. He looked around, hoping to find someone willing to sit down and talk for a bit.

Laurelsong slipped in through the camp entrance, a pitifully scrawny cotton-tailed rabbit hanging from her jaws.  After almost half a day of hunting out on the moor this was all she had been able to bring back, and the she-cat who usually was able to flaunt her hunting skills had taken quite a hit to her ego.  Dropping the creature unceremoniously down onto the near bare fresh-kill pile, she grumbled a mix of curses and ideas for better winter-hunting under her breath as she headed for the direction of the warrior's den.  In her distraction though, she accidentally bumped into another cat from the back; surprised, she narrowed her eyes and was about to ask why they were standing in her way when she realized that it was her father, Silentstrike.  "Oh, sorry dad!  I was a little distracted..."  She noticed the fairly healthy-looking hare in his mouth, and suppressed a wave of guilt; her thin catch was more skin than meat, barely enough to feed one kit, let alone a nursing queen or a starving elder.  In a moment, she made a decision; "Hey, do'ya wanna share that?"  She didn't want to take more than necessary from her clan today...plus it was a resourceful but fun way to make sure more prey got around to all cats that needed to eat.  Tomorrow though, I'll try to find something awesome, to make up for that terrible rabbit...

OOC: Time for some happiness before Laurelsong goes evil

IC: After being on the latest dusk patrol that evening, Quailfeather had slept in extra long. With no apprentice to train and no early patrol assigned (Brindlewhisker wasn't that mean), she could afford to do that. With a stretch and a yawn, showing her pointed fangs, the lithe WindClan she-cat padded out of the warriors' den, inhaling the brisk, chilly afternoon air. She had slept in even longer than she thought. Should she go on a patrol or help out in camp? Interrupting her train of thought, a loud grumble came from her belly. Breakfast, she decided, even though morning was long past. Breakfast first. The senior warrior headed over to the fresh-kill pile, wondering if the small hare she'd caught the other night would still be there, when she saw her mate and daughter sharing a rabbit together. Seizing a small thrush in her jaws, she made her way over to her family, smiling widely as she set the fresh-kill down. "Come on, Fernfeather caught this last night and I'm sure she'd want you to have it. That skinny rabbit isn't nearly enough for you both." Her tone was light, even though she knew that leaf-bare was hard for everyone. She'd hunt extra-hard to make up for it, but she needed to have more than just a tiny bit of rabbit to get the energy she needed to feed the Clan. Laurelsong and Silentstrike deserevd it, too. "How have you been?" the gray speckled she-cat asked, settling herself down by the black-and-white tabby with a purr.

Letting out a light chuckle, Silentstrike smiled at Laurelsong. You're fine, sweetheart." There was a slight hint of a tease in his voice, she'd never liked when he called her things like then when she was younger. "I was getting ready to go find someone to share it with, I couldn't eat this myself, not now, during leafbare. Of course you can!" The black and white warrior was just getting ready to chomp down on the rabbit when he heard his mate's sweet voice. His ears perked up, and he looked in her direction. "That'd be great. Laurelsong, you can go ahead and eat that rabbit. Quialfeather and I will share the thrush." He could tell that she was hungry, and he was sure she could use the boost. His tail immediately curled around Quialfeather's body, as per usual. He nudged the bird closer to Quailfeather, encouraging her to go ahead. "Well, considering it's leafbare, I'm not too bad off. You?"
