Perhaps it was from a combination of blood loss and extreme exertion or perhaps it was from the scarce pickings that it had been relying on since the start of the cold season, but the Owl's strength faded at a ridiculously rapid pace. With a final shrill screech of rage and pain, the massive bird crashed into the floor in front of the two cats, sending up a storm of downy feathers as it did so.

With a final sharp exhale of effort, Wolfpaw dropped down to the muddy forest floor below, flanks heaving with the effort of battle. His claws ached from tearing so sharply at the owl, but thankfully he seemed rather unharmed in the grand scheme of things. Shaking his head and puffing out another heaving breath in an attempt to soothe his rapidly beating heart, the young tom turned to gaze at owl with wary eyes, clearly unwilling to let the troublesome bird out of his sight. "What now?"

Glad that the apprentice was alright, Mudfoot looked back to owl that laid dead on the forest floor. "I think you've done a fine job. Let's take this back to camp and I'll make sure to report your valiant efforts," the warrior meowed with a smile, his sides still heaving from the fight.
