Russetpaw's Assessment (closed)

Sitting near the camp entrance, Tinylegs waited for his apprentice. The sun was beginning to rise above the horizon, and the crisp Leaffall air was enjoyable. Today, the little warrior would assess Russet paw and was confident that he would do great.

Russetpaw walked to his mentor the moment he woke up. This assessment was one of the most important parts of an apprentices life. If he passes, he won't be an apprentice much longer.
"Hello, Tinylegs! So, what will I need to catch to pass?"

Letting out a purr, the small warrior stood up and gave his pelt a shake. "You'll need to catch a prey from the ground and something in the trees. After that, you'll lead a border patrol around the territory," he mewed. With that, Tinylegs turned and trotted out of the camp entrance, ready to get started.

Russetpaw nodded, feeling nervous. He knew he could probably catch the prey needed, but could he lead a patrol alright. He followed Tinylegs out of the camp. for the ground... maybe a mouse or vole? Maybe a shrew? Then a squirrel or a bird for the prey in the trees?
"Where should I hunt?"

"Anywhere you want, it's your choice," Tinylegs replied with a smile as they entered the thinly wooded forest.

I think right here will do," Russetpaw replied, when they came to a halt. "So I guess I'll head off."
He padded away, and decided he would go for prey on the ground first. He twitches his ears and tastes the air. Mouse.
He crouched down, and stalked the the little rodent. When he got close enough, he sprung forward, and killled it with a single swipe. He half buried his catch, then padded off to find something in the trees.

Russetpaw scanned the trees for something. He wanted to catch something larger than a mouse. He looked around until he found a cardinal. He climbed up the trunk, trying to be as stealthy as possible. He balanced himself on a thick branch behind the one the bird was sitting on. He had to be careful and make sure he would not fall. He swiftly, but carefully, lightly lunged onto the branch, and bit down onto the bird, till it went limp. He he retreated to the other branch he was on a moment ago, since the one the bird was on wasn't as steady. When he returned to the ground, he dug up his mouse and headed back to where he and Tinylegs were before.

IC: Giving a nod of approval to his apprentice, Tinylegs waited for the younger tom to walk off before sitting down. Listening, he was able to hear the sound of something in the distance, most likely his apprentice making a kill, and soon enough, Russetpaw had trotted back to his side. "Good job," he mewed with a smile. "Ready to lead your patrol?" he asked and stood up, giving his pelt a shake.

Russetpaw nodded, though he was nervous. "Who will be on the patrol?"

"Just us," the tom mewed reassuringly with a smile.

"Oh, alright!" Russetpaw meowed, relieved. He led his mentor near the ThunderClan border, but not exactly at the border.. "So I guess we will make sure there is nothing suspicious."

Following his apprentice, the little tom slowed down the pace as they neared the ThunderClan border. "Mhm," he murmured through a closed mouth and nodded his head in agreement, not saying anything else. This was Russetpaw's time to "teach," and Tinylegs wanted to see how much the apprentice knew on his own.

Russetpaw sniffed around, while scratching a couple trees. "So we're just gonna check and make sure ThunderClan haven't crossed the border, and also make sure there aren't any foxes or badgers," He meowed. He checked around. "There doesn't seem to be any trouble. Can you scent something bad?"
