Dawn's Renaming Ceremony

Crowstar called out to his clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Cloud that Breaks the Dawn swallowed hard, her golden eyes cast downwards. Several cats from the Tribe had been coming to Stoneteller, letting the old tom know their desires to stay with their distant cousins in the forest. Something about the soft smell of pine, and the interesting adventures that came from several other, significantly different groups gave the Tribe a newfound energy. While their home would always remain with the Tribe in the mountains, many of them wanted to start a new life. And with Stoneteller's permission, they reached out to Crowstar, asking for a "warrior name".

Cloud was no exception. She was Stoneteller's protege. She was the one who was destined to take over for the tom when it was his time to pass. But despite the training and effort she had put into learning the craft, and training for her future position, something always felt wrong. She never felt good enough. The she-cat always felt it wasn't who she was meant to be.

Yet, when she was a simple 'apprentice', she felt content with her duties and felt strong in what she was accomplishing. With a heavy heart, she turned to her healer, like many others had as well, and asked to stay. She wanted to become a part of SkyClan.

She was sure of herself, but she felt as if she was disappointing someone. Her parents, Stoneteller, the tribe, she couldn't quite place who it was, but that part of her sunk into her pelt deeper as she padded up to the black leader.

"Today we have someone wishing to join our ranks." The leader announced to his clan, before turning his yellow eyes to the To-Be Healer sitting down below. She was apprentice age and still need to learn their ways. It was going to be very different from what she already knew. Though he knew she was willing to accept the challenge.

"Cloud that Breaks the Dawn, please come forward." He was glad that many tribe cats wanted to stay, and embrace their ancestry, but at the same time he felt bad for the tribe leader. He was losing his family, though he was certain that there are plenty of tribe left for him. He was certain they would find a way to survive like they had before.

The she-cat took a quiet step forward, glancing up at Crowstar with a slight concern in her eyes.

The leader didn't really know the ceremony to well but he knew that this apprentice needed to be renamed. It was a rare ceremony but he felt this one was more accurate to the situation. "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for who she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name and accept her fully into Skyclan." THe leader paused for a small moment as he transitioned over to something more familiar.

"From this moment on, until she earns her warrior  she will be known as Dawnpaw, and just as she trained under Stoneteller, she will train under me. I will mentor her in all that I know." It was unusual ceremony, but it was nice. Hopefully Dawnpaw will be happy to work with him.
