Ivies and Weeds (Training)

Weedblaze had been quite busy... doing... things. Important things. Things that are not important enough for anyone to know, nor should anyone be allowed to know. All that was important was that he was busy and he was finally going to train his apprentice. He went over to the apprentices' den early in the morning, intending to wake up Ivypaw. He poked his head inside to look for her, prodding her with a paw.

"Ivypaw, wake up. Today, we train."

Ivypaw lifted her head. "We are! Great!" she said, cheerfully. She padded out of the den. "What are we doing?" she asked.

"We are going to be doing a mix of combat and hunting, just so you know the basics. It's important to be able to defend your Clan and be able to provide for it, even if it's only slightly. This will also show me what we will need to focus on as you develop," he replied.

He receded from the den and moved to the camp entrance, flicking his tail to indicate that Ivypaw should follow.

Ivypaw nodded and followed her mentor.

OOC: Short

Weedblaze nodded once she was with him and swished through the camp entrance, heading out into the woods. Leaves crunched beneath his paws as the chilly leaf-fall air blew through his pelt. The sun was out, but just barely. Clouds threatened to obscure it and rob them of what little warmth there was to have this season. Tree after tree passed by them until he was satisfied with where he had taken them. Rather than the sandy hollow where most ThunderClan cats trained, he had taken Ivypaw to a private clearing.

"Listen to the forest. Do you hear anything? Squirrels? Voles?"

OOC: Basically for hunting, just pick a creature you want to hunt and roll the hunting dice. The guide in the rules will let you know what's a catch and what's not.

Ivypaw lifted her muzzle. "I smell.... a squirrel," she replied. She could hear rustling nearby. "And I already kinda know the hunting crouch, from seeing the other apprentices."
She dropped into the crouch, she stalked towards the squirrel. She caught sight of the small grey figure. She quietly shifted her paws, lifting her hindquarters the slightest bit, then she sprung. She landed an inch from the rodent. She swiftly bit down hard on it's neck, killing it. She was so shocked, she caught her prey her first try!

Edit: idk if you wanted Ivypaw to already catch something, if you didn't, then we can just ignore this reply. :)

"A natural," he meowed, "but you must also be prepared to fight."

OOC: Short, but I'm going to let you take the first strike. Basically, what will happen is you will look at the ranks of each combatant and that will tell you their Health Points and Stamina Points, which will be posted below. Once you select an attack usable by your rank, you will subtract the damage dealt from your opponent's health and the stamina cost from your cat's stamina meter. Make sense? To begin, I will post the health/stamina of both our cats.

Also, for this exercise, both health and stamina will be replenished each round since this is a training thread.

Ivypaw nodded, making sure to listen carefully. "Okay. What move should I learn first?"

"First, the basic swipe," he said, dropping into a battle stance and swiping a sheathed paw at her.

OOC: Do an apprentice attack or something-- I'll show you how one looks.

Weedblaze used Front Paw Strike, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina!

Once the desired action was taken by Ivypaw, Weedblaze backed off and said with a grin, "You learn fast. I think we are done for today."
