ShadowClan Moonstone Journey [come one, come all]

(i’m writing this on 4 hours of sleep on mobile after 2 hours of homework so excuse my bleh post ;^; )

Littlebrook sat by Honeydrop’s den with several bundles of traveling herbs from the golden she-cat. This was going to be her first big task as deputy and she couldn’t tell if she was more nervous or excited. Either way, this was going to be an interesting experience for her and the apprentices she had decided we’re ready for this step to warriorhood. Though it was only barely dusk, she was itching to get started on their journey to Highstones. The apprentices should be have been waking up soon, so she went ahead and forced the bitter herbs down her throat. Well I might as well get used to that taste. she thought laughingly, trying not to make a face at the terrible taste left in her mouth. She has already grabbed a small mouse from the fresh-kill pile, so as she waited for the young cats to join her, she began grooming he sleek mottled fur.

Lilacpaw made her way to Littlebrook, shaking slightly. She tried to hide it - she shouldn't be afraid. She dipped her head to the deputy, looking at the travelling herbs curiously. She had never had reason for them before, and wondered whether the taste was as bad as she had heard. She kept silent, not wanting to embarrass herself, and instead bit into the travelling herbs. ...Oh, StarClan, it wasn't as bad as she had feared. It was worse. All thoughts of silence dissipated immediately. "I hope they do their job," she mumbled, trying to finish them as quickly as possible.

Curlypaw padded over to Littlebrook as soon as she could, knowing immediately what she was going to do that day. For a few moments fear clenched her belly, though it soon disappeared. All she had to do was remind herself that she had faced the dark forest before, so she could face StarClan. She didn't think of the fact that she had ran away and passed out when she had faced the dark forest, a fact that soon would probably come to haunt her. As she approached the deputy, she realized that Lilacpaw was already there. That apprentice was on of her only friends, so she was glad she was coming along.
"Hey Littlebrook, Lilacpw," she greeted, then bent down and picked up the herbs. She dropped them in a heartbeat. "Ew! These are revolting!" Grimacing, she picked them back up and forced herself to eat them, nearly vomiting at the bitter taste. She convinced herself that this was only the beginning, and things would get better. And hopefully no snobby cats would end up coming.

Littlebrook smiled warmly as Lilacpaw and Curlypaw made their way towards her. She laughed knowingly at their screwed up faces and disgusted outbursts as they ate the bitter traveling herbs that Honeydrop had left for them. "They don't taste that great, but they do do their job." She commented lightly before beginning to get a bit serious. "I assume you've both eaten like I asked you to? Even though we are closer than most of the Clans, the Moonstone is still a pretty big journey, and I expect you to take it seriously." She meowed clearly, eyeing each apprentice to make sure they understood how important this journey would be for them. When she was sure they had grasped the significance, she flicked her tail. "Alright guys, let's head out." She said before turning and heading out across the marsh.

Soon they had reached the Thunderpath that seperated them from the last stretch to Mothermouth and she held her tail up to signal for the apprentices to stop. "Wait for my signal and then run, okay?" She meowed loudly over the roar of a monster passing by mid-sentence. Setting a paw on the edge of the Thunderpath, she waited until she didn't feel any vibrations anymore. Once it looked and felt clear, she looked to the apprentices, "Now!" She yowled as she raced across the black path. After making sure Curlypaw and Lilacpaw made it across safely, they continued their journey until finally arriving at Mothermouth just as the moon was almost to its highest point. "Okay, it's going to be extremely dark in there, but you'll be fine. Just follow my scent and my voice, and if we're moving too fast, don't be afraid to speak up, alright?" She instructed, looking both apprentices in the eyes with her serious blue gaze.

Lilacpaw nodded. "Of course, Littlebrook," she murmured. Dark, huh? ...What was lurking in those tunnels? She shook her head, as if trying to expel those thoughts. There was enough stress knowing that she was meant to speak to StarClan here. Maybe that's why it was so dark? The spirits of StarClan cats wandering the tunnels? She laughed softly. No, that was absolutely ridiculous.

Curlypaw absently nodded, following Littleebrook and Lilacpaw out of camp and into the marsh. When they reached the Thunderpath, she remembered her near-death experience last tim, and ager washed over her for a few seconds. But she kept her cool, and safely crossed the hard stone. Upon reaching the dark cave, some of her previous worries returned to her. StarClan could hate her for being a coward, or for being weak, or even just for being a fox-heart every so often. But if StarClan was really as good as everyone said, they would have to forgive her, right? Her brow furrowing in determination, she nodded again.
"Okay. I'm ready."

Littlebrook nodded approvingly at the apprentices' attitude before flicking her ear and heading down into the cave. She made her way at a brisk pace, but also slow enough that the young cats wouldn't have trouble keeping up, hopefully. After several long moments, they made it into the cave that was just starting to fill with the light of the moonstone as the moon's light shone down on it. It was always so beautiful and never failed to take Littlebrook's breath away, but she turned to the two apprentices as they entered behind her. "Alright guys, this is where the real journey begins for you." She meowed, a slight smile on her lips. "I won't be joining you guys in StarClan, but I'll be here when you wake up. Just get comfortable and touch your nose to the Moonstone." She purred softly as she instructed the nervously excited apprentices.

Lilacpaw looked to the Moonstone - it was so pretty. She drew closer, and tried to make herself comfortable as per Littlebrook's instructions before touching her nose to it gently. Most of her fears washed away as she knew her friend and the deputy of her Clan were both close by, and her mind instead drifted to who she might speak to as her eyes fluttered shut.

Taking a deep breath, Curlypaw followed the other two she-cats into the tunnel. After a few moments of total darkness her heart beat faster. Not from the small dark space, she was used to that, but by what it lead to. What had been a wondrous prospect at first was now a little creepy. Talking to dead cats? Wasn't that a little gross? As she stepped into the light, her eyes squinting at the sudden bright light. Unlike Littlerbrook and Lilacpaw, she wasn't amazed by this, actually a little bit the opposite. The brightness countered her ShadowClan instinct, its sheer size made her feel tiny, and it had an aura of power that just scared her. She nodded weakly and stepped towards the glowing crystal, before lying down and placing her nose against it.
After a heartbeat of contemplation, she closed her eyes and let sleep find her. In a few moments, she wondered why she wasn't falling asleep. Her breath caught as she opened her eyes. The starry sky greeted her, and plains with a slight silver tinge surrounded her. This was StarClan. The lack of cover made her a little nervous, as well as the smell she could only describe as powerful that wafted around her. She looked around, wondering who might greet her.

Waiting for Willowpaw deep within the evergreen realm of StarClan was the faint outline of a star-speckled massive tabby tom who was barely visible among the the endless forest that surrounded them for as far as the eye could see. The enticing scents of various prey filled the air but it did little to distract the former Shadowclan warrior as he continued to patiently wait. Despite the fact that he had very much earned his resting-in-peace part, it seemed like he was the designated Starclan cat to speak with the steady stream of apprentices who visited the sacred stone. So much for an eternity of rest, huh? "Lilacpaw." Shadewillow finally summoned the small she-cat with an air of impatience, his amber eyes glinting as he spoke.

"H-hello... Should I... Recognize you?" Lilacpaw asked, observing the massive tom. He towered over her, both due to her younger age and slightly below average size. So this was the cat that had come to speak to her? What was his name? More importantly, what would he say to her? Suddenly the stress she had tried to leave behind at the entrance of the tunnels that surrounded the Moonstone came rushing back, nearly drowning her in worries. She shook her head in an attempt to clear it. Surely nothing too bad could happen in a dream that took place in such a sacred location. She simply waited for the warrior's response, trying to reign in her thoughts while also paying attention.

It's time. One of the bright stars that lay in the sky above where Curlypaw sat seemed to glow a little stronger than its companions. In the blink of an eye, the star appeared to shoot down from the dark curtain of sky and hurtle down towards the ground below. Where it fell, a bright flash of light illuminated the silvery grass for a moment, and then the shape of a cat blossomed upwards. The cat's form was slim and willowy, with delicate paws and an intelligent face- a she-cat with black, star-studded fur. A mischievous look twinkled in her intent hazel eyes, a slight surprise given the wisdom that seemed to line her slender body. "Hello, Curlypaw," the StarClan she-cat purred, her voice warm. "My name is Shimmerheart. It's wonderful to finally see you face-to-face."

Curlypaw's eyes widened in surprise for a few seconds as one of the stars seemed to fall from the sky and land on the silvery grass in front of her. As the cat seemed to materialize in front of her, she realized what was going on. This was the StarClan cat who was going to speak with her. Excitement and anxiety coursed through her stomach, suddenly at a paws reach from a fallen warrior. Shimmerheart... why did that name sound vaguely familiar? Like something out of a queen's tale. A feeling of awe kept through her, and she realized that yet greeted the she-cat in front of her.
"Uh, hello Shimmerheart. It's nice to see you too, I guess. Not to sound rude or anything, but who are you?" the gray tabby asked hesitantly, hoping that she wasn't being extremely rude and ignorant by not knowing who this cat was.

The slim black she-cat looked only the tiniest bit disappointed that Curlypaw didn't recognize her name. Oh, well. I don't suppose I was all that memorable anyways- after all, Leopardstar took another mate a few moons after I died. And now, he's up here with me. Shimmerheart smiled at the apprentice anyways. "I can't say I'm really surprised you don't remember my name. I was Leopardstar's mate, as well as his first apprentice. Even though both he and I are dead, our kits have carried on our blood, and many of our descendants still live in ShadowClan to this day, from your friend Firestone to the medicine cat." The StarClan she-cat's hazel eyes searched Curlypaw's. "But enough about me- I don't matter. There's a reason that I came to visit you, and I'm sure there's a reason that you're here. Perhaps something you've been wondering for a while?" The tip of her starry, ethereal black tail waved slowly from side to side as she waited for an answer.
