Poppykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Brindlewhisker leapt up onto the Tallrock with ease, ignoring the way that the heated surface of the stone burned her paws slightly. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" She yowled loudly, settling herself comfortably upon the warm stone, an eager look evident upon her face- her first granddaughter, an apprentice already!

Poppykit emerged from the nursery, licking her fur carefully now and again. With no mother to care for her, the kit had to be her own mother sometimes, and she was proud of her own skill. She settled down at the base of the Tallrock, looking up at her grandmother with shining eyes.

Brindlewhisker hardly had to search for Poppykit's small form among the scattered crowd- in fact her granddaughter's beaming face was practically jumping out at her. A twinge of sorrow twisted her chest at the realization that Goldenflame wouldn't be here to see his daughter officially find her place among the Clan, but she quickly swallowed the painful realization and redirected her attention to her kin below her.

"Poppykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Poppypaw. Your mentor will be Slatethroat. I trust he will pass down all he knows on to you." She announced before leaping from the Tallrock and approaching the newly-named Poppypaw, a loud purr rumbling in her chest as she did so.

Poppypaw finished exchanging pleasantries with her new mentor and looked up at her granmother, eyes shining with pride. "I'll be the best warrior ever!" she meowed up to her brightly, hopping on her paws and rising small puffs of dust.

Slatethroat's eyes snapped up to the tallrock at the sound of his name. Per usual, he had gathered along with the rest of the clan for a meeting. However, when it seemed to be another apprentice ceremony, the tom had tuned out and become lost in his thoughts. Since both Talonstrike and Dovesomething had received their warrior names, he had been freed from training. Both were not phenomenal Windclan warrior. He had done well. But, he was enjoying having a bit of time to himself. At Brindlewhisker's words, the tom was shocked. He was to mentor her kin. The new apprentice bounded over to him excitedly and thank her mother. It took a second for him to recover. After a moment, his deep meow rumbled as he spoke to Poppypaw for the first time, "Our training starts early in the morning. Get some rest."
