Cherryblossoms wilting under New Life(open)

It was a little while since the expecting queen was allowed into the clan and now belly was swollen full of unborn kits. She was laying in the nursery her bright ginger and white belly heaving as she breathed before a bout of pain racked her body starting from her belly. She let out a goal of pain and some part of her knew it was the kits."l...l...leafstorm"Cherryblossom called stuttering at first from the pain. Though she could feel the pain only getting worse as the she felt her belly convulsing.

OOC: We have a med cat finally- they can be present.

IC:
Leafstorm dropped what he was doing and raced towards her. "What? But...!" He raced back and forth. "Rabbitfoot! Rabbitfoot, help!"
He raced back to Cherryblossom's side. "Breathe!" He ordered. He had heard Honeypaw instruct queens to do that when they gave birth, so it must be worth a shot.

Ic: Cherryblossom tried breath in an out. It helped a bit but the queen felt the horrible pain and she gritted her teeth practically. It wasn't even a few minutes later when the birthing really started. Soon enough a white and Brown kit was brought into the world. She was going to lean forward to try and clean the kit but it didn't happen as two more kits came both not moving or breathing but Cherryblossom couldn't tell her head swimming with pain and blood started to form a puddle almost around her that was when The last kit was brought into the world a tortoishell kitten whom was small more then likely the runt. Cherryblossom whimpered trying to look at their kits but the blood kept coming even after the kits were there.

The small tortoishell kitten was the last born. The small kit started to squirm.

"Cherryblossom? Cherryblossom are you okay? Rabbitfoot!"
The tom raced to her side, nudging her. "Cherryblossom- stay awake! Look at me,
no! Look at me! You're going to be fine. Let's name them. Let's name your kits, okay?"
He let out a small sob and moved the two stillborn kits aside, nudging the brown and white kit towards her. "What about this one? What are you going to name him?"

Cherryblossom tried to focus on him. Oh how she tried but it was getting hard for the she cat already weak from birth an unknown to her the puddle of blood slowly growing. She looked up at Leafstorm blue eyes filled with mixed emotions of joy sadness and pain. Her gaze looked the kit he gently pushed to her so that she could see the fluffy kitten. Unknown to her the two stillborn kits he pushed aside."D...Dog...Dog-"She trailed off voice soft as she fumbled weakly to remember how the clan names worked."Dogkit"She murmured. She felt herself started to calm and it was the calm that scared the weak she cat the most."w...what about the others"she said weakly her blue eyes starting to glaze over a bit as death held fast to the queen.

"They... they're stillborn. But look! You have one more. She's so beautiful, Cherryblossom. Let's name her Cherrykit. Okay? Please. Please stay awake!
He licked her cheek desperately. "No... no! Cherryblossom!" The tom wailed. "Please! P-Please..."

Cherryblossom just managed to hear the name and see her last kit as the pain left the weak she cat"i..im sorry L-leafstorm"She said her voice barely a whisper. The last words she managed to get out was that she loved him before her bright ginger and white body fell limp and her last breathe left her.

The newly named Cherrykit gave out a loud mewl at the sudden movement.

Dogkit moved towards his mother, searching for milk in her cold body. He nuzzled against her as if he could breathe life back into her. Even though he could not see or understand, he heard another cat yowl in grief and he yowled back.

Leafstorm let out a sob and buried his nose in his mate's fur. If only he had been there earlier...

He shook himself, his eyes dull with grief as he nudged his kits away from her body. This was nobody's fault but his own.

His paws were sticky with blood as he curled around the two of them, burying his face in his paws helplessly.

Dogkit was swept away into the strange cat's fur as it sobbed.

Times had been hard for Thunderclan. Since their territory had suffered, there had been almost no supplies. To make things worse, their only medicine cat, Honeypaw, had disappeared leaving Thunderclan with no help. That's where Rabbitfoot came in. Since Skyclan had Oceanlight, the she-cat had offered her services to the suffering clan. Now, as she hunted through the soot-covered territory, small sprigs of herbs were finally beginning to pop up, greener and prettier than ever. Already, the medicine cat had mouthfuls of herbs that she had brought with her from Skyclan and even picked up through Thunderclan. It was going to be such a treat as soon as she got back to camp!

However, as she grew close to Thunderclan's entrance, cries and howls shot chills down her spine. Through the herbs and leaves, she gasped, darting in as fast as she could until a terrible sight unfolded before her. The new queen lay there lifeless as two small bodies sprawled next to her. Beside her was Leafstorm huddled and grieving with two other kits. "Oh no..." Rabbitfoot breathed as she dropped all the herbs she was carrying and rushed to Cherryblossom, sniffing her over and feeling for breathing. "No, no... no no no..." She cried when all of her attempts were in vain. "Fox dung!!" She hissed before letting out a heavy sigh of defeat. Despite all of her knowledge, there was no way of bringing someone back from the dead. Reluctantly turning to Leafstorm, she could barely meet his gaze as she tried to tell him. Ears flat against her head, she spoke. "I'm... I'm so sorry... I should have been here. I told myself not to be gone long..." the rambles continued before the two kits caught her eye. "May... May I look them over? I want to make sure they're okay. And we, um.. we should tell Blizzardstar..." she said, her voice drenched in sorrow, but there was still work to be done. She was not going to leave until she made sure Cherryblossom's legacy, these two living kits, were healthy. One cat already died under her care, she wasn't going to add two more to that list.

Cherrykit mewled in complaint as she was pulled away and brought close to another warm body and then she felt the moving sibling next to her.

The tom looked up as a she-cat- Skyclan's Medicine Cat -approached him. "It my fault." His voice shook as he spoke. "It's all my fault. I should've stayed away from her. Then we never would have met, and then... and then she wouldn't... she wouldn't be dead."

He looked down at the two kits nestled between his front legs sadly, nuzzling them before reluctantly moving. "Where are they going to go? Who's going to take care of them?"

“I will” The white spotted pelt of the ThunderClan leader blocked the entrance to the nursery for a couple seconds as she stepped inside the nursery. She had heard the cries of Leafstorm from her den, however it took her too long to realize that the cries weren’t that of joy, but of panic and sadness as Cherrystorm’s life wilted like a blooming flower when the cold claws of Leafbare closed around it.

Sad eyes went from the now lifeless queen to her kits, and then to Leafstorm and Rabbitfoot “I’m really sorry for your loss, Leafstorm, may a new star shines above us from now on so we know her spirit now hunts with our ancestors in StarClan as she watches over us” Blizzardstar softly placed her chin on the grieving tom’s head as a way to comfort him for a couple seconds before she turned around to face Medicine cat “There is nothing for you to apologize, Rabbitfoot. I know for a fact that you did your best to take care of Cherryblossom during the time she was still with us, even if you had no obligation to, and if we have two healthy kits between us instead of four stillborn kits I’m sure you’re the one we need to be thanking” She padded towards the two kits, sighing deeply. She had seen so many kits suffer by losing a mother during her lifetime, and each time she felt the same pain and found herself asking StarClan what the kits did to deserve such a terrible fate.

“Rabbitfoot, do you have any borage leaves?” This wasn’t the first time Blizzardstar had taken young kits as her own when their biological mothers died for one reason or another, so she now had some knowledge of the leaves she was supposed to eat in these situations.
