Amberpelt watched Splashpaw's progress with careful gaze, flickering an ear when she spotted the sparrow that the apprentice had zeroed in on. Hm...A bird, not the most luxury piece of prey when it came to it but if Splashpaw was able to catch it it would still be...Oh. The warrior held back a sigh as the bird fluttered off - barely escaping Splashpaw's swipes. She knew she shouldn't be disappointed - she had the feeling that she herself would have the same luck but she was certain that Splashpaw could do better. Luck was just seeming not to be in her favor.

Scuffing the ground once more with an impatient huff, Splashpaw continued to circle the territory in a wider arc now- her clumsy attempt to catch the Sparrow had probably scared off everything nearby. She could feel her skin growing hot beneath her fur in embarrassment, but she forced herself to keep searching for her next piece of prey that she could hopefully catch. Fallowstripe would be so embarrassed of her! Her entire family would be embarrassed!

A flash of something dark darted across her vision, making Splashpaw's ears perk in surprise. Lizard! Reaching out, the apprentice forgot her embarrassment as she darted after the small scuttling creature. Propelling herself forward with a desperate leap, she was surprised to feel the small Lizard wriggling beneath her paws. She had caught it? However, a low rumbling snarl interrupted her internal celebration. Looking up, she was surprised to be greeted with the sight of a long, russet face glaring back at her. It was a fox? It looked scrawny and angry, sizing up the small calico apprentice with a desperate, hungry gleam in its eyes."Amberpelt!" Splashpaw yowled, panic causing her to abandon her prey and scramble away, the obviously agitated Fox hard upon her heels.

Amberpelt watched in silence as she stalked along in the reeds, pausing when she spotted Splashpaw dart off, excitement taking over her. The warrior blinked in surprise as she spotted the lizard that the apprentice was going for...And the russet-colored fur that flashed behind it. Her eyes went wide as her breath caught in her throat, barely spotting that Splashpaw had caught the lizard before the apprentice realized what was stalking her. At the sound of her name, Amberpelt busted from the reeds with a loud hiss, dashing past Splashpaw as she made a wild leap at the fox. She landed skillfully on the creature's back, her claws digging in as she bit down hoping to distract it long enough for either Splashpaw to get to safety or perhaps help her - all Amberpelt knew is that she had to keep the apprentice safe.

Amberpelt uses Leap-and-Hold on the fox, dealing 11 damage and costing 10 stamina. The fox is stunned for 1 turn(s).

Splashpaw continued to streak away from the Fox, so fueled by her terror that she only barely managed to notice how Amberpelt hurled herself into the snarling creatures path. Gazing at the Fox's snapping jaws, she felt her fur bristling with terror as the sight of it's yellowing teeth. Even though it was common knowledge that Snowpaw's death was caused by an unknown creature, she couldn't but think of her sister's stiff corpse.

Practically frozen for several heartbeats, Splashpaw tried to collect her wits as Amberpelt leaped upon the back of the scrawny Fox, doing her best to regain her frazzled wits. A particularly loud yelp from the Fox fully regained her attention, and after a few deep breaths and impromptu strategizing, the apprentice crouched down and prepared for an attack. Following Amberpelt's lead, the bristling little calico took a moment to prepare herself before she promptly dove under the Fox's belly, swiping bravely at the matted fur that resided there. She swallowed a gag at the rancid scent of the Fox's ungroomed fur, but forced herself to cling even tighter to the scrawny creature, slicing at its sensitive flesh.

The Fox let out a startled yelp as a larger cat suddenly dove into its path, claws and teeth flashing. All it wanted was a simple meal -the cold moons had been hard this season and it had yet to recover fully- and now it was being forced to fight for its right to a full belly? The Fox snarled as the she-cat was suddenly upon it's back, writhing and bucking desperately to try and fling the skillful creature away. Before it could do so, the little cat it had been chasing earlier was suddenly back once more, clinging to its belly and raking at it. An enraged bark escaped the Fox's mouth as it tried desperately, but in vain, to free itself from the RiverClan cat's grasps.

Amberpelt hissed as the fox buckled and twisted beneath her, doing its best to throw her off. She felt herself slipping, and dug her claws in as deep as she could to hold on. She spotted Splashpaw sweeping in to lend aid, giving the apprentice a small smile despite being in the thick of combat. However, that moment was all that was needed for Amberpelt to lose her grip. With the fox twisting like it was, her claws were tugged from where she had latched onto, falling to the ground with a startled gasp. She shook her head as she pulled herself to her paws, trying to regain her footing as the fox was very much still a threat.

Amberpelt continues to uses Leap-and-Hold on the fox, dealing 11 damage and costing 10 stamina. The fox is no longer stunned.

"Amberpelt, watch out!" Splashpaw huffed with wide eyes as the she-cat slipped from her precarious perching point on top of the Fox, promptly yanking her claws from their vantage points within the Fox's belly, before doing her best to scramble out from beneath the scrawny creature. Perhaps it would of been smarter for her to stay beneath the floundering Fox to weight it down long enough for Amberpelt to get to her paws, but she was feeling a bit too jumpy due to the flood of fear and adrenaline within her system.

After halting beside Amberpelt for a moment to catch her breath for a few brief heartbeats, Splashpaw let out a challenging caterwaul as she charged back towards the snarling Fox, ready to drive the evidently starving creature away for good. Fling herself at the Fox full force, she let out a startled grunt as she sent both herself and the Fox sprawling over in a tangle of limbs and flying fur. The world spun around in a dizzy circle and the rank scent of the starving Fox began to disorient Splashpaw as she desperately tried to keep the Fox as equally as disoriented.

The Fox was surprised once it was finally it finally managed to shake the larger cat free of its hold, and was even more surprised to see the smaller cat release its painful hold upon its belly. A conflicted whine welled up in the Fox's throat as it stared down the two cats- could it take both of them? It was hungry enough to at least try, but it was unable to gauge whether or not it could actually take down two cats. However, before it could further decide, it was bowled over by the smaller cat and went down in a storm of flailing limbs, hardly able to get its bearings.

Amberpelt stumbled backwards as Splashpaw darted forward, throwing herself at the fox. "Splashpaw, back up!" she yowled at the apprentice, fear flashing in her eyes as young she-cat fell into a tumbled mess with the much larger creature. Terror ran down her spine as her fur stood on edge, throwing herself toward as she slashed at the disoriented creature. "Get out of there Splashpaw," she called toward the apprentice, not liking how close she was to striking range of the fox.

Amberpelt uses Upright Front Paws on the fox, dealing 13 damage and costing 20 stamina.

The Fox let out a snarl as the larger cat suddenly attacked once more, battering roughly at its face before it had time to react. It reared away as if it planned on retreating from the two cats, cowering lowly to the ground as it braced for one last desperate attempt to get a meal. Once the smaller cat turned its back upon the Fox, it used the last of its depleted speed and strength to lunged forward and snatch up the orange and black cat, roughly shaking the small creature.

"It'll be fine!" Splashpaw called back to Amberpelt, floundering for a proper foothold on the soft, leaf-spattered inland ground. She carelessly turned away from the Fox, thinking that the scrawny creature was still stunned by Amberpelt's quick attack, but she was surprised as the Fox suddenly slithered forward and caught her by surprise and giving her no time to react. Splashpaw squalled as the Fox sank its teeth deep into the soft flesh of her shoulder, feeling every bone within her body give a violent shudder as the russet creature gave her a violent jerk that blurred her vision. A trail of fire crept from the new wound straight down to her bones, making her yowl and lash out blindly, trying desperately to claw at the fox. The sharp, rustic scent of blood and the rank scent of the fox made her feel dizzy and sick, causing her swipes to become hurried and disoriented.
