Shrikekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Darkstar scrambled up onto her perch, stretching out into the cool breeze before calling out, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Shrikekit's ears perked at the leader's call, and he jumped to his paws and hurried into the clearing. He had been growing quite quickly and found the nursery to be much smaller than he had originally thought. His thick gray fur stuck up in all directions, but he wasn't paying attention to that. Instead, his yellow eyes lifted to stare at Darkstar with anticipation.

The leader's warm gaze studied the young tom for a moment before she began. Would her choice of mentor be right? Well, surely he would far well under the senior warrior's teaching. "Shrikekit, you have reaced the age of six moons and it is time that you became apprenticed. From this moment forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Shrikepaw. As an experienced and skilled warrior, Blacktwig will serve as your mentor."

Blacktwig traipsed forwards, glad that his new apprentice was one he had interacted with before when the misty tom was a kit. "Shrikepaw," he greeted with a dip of his head, touching his nose lightly to the new apprentice's.

Shrikepaw turned and smiled at the old warrior, remembering him from a few past interactions. He met Blacktwig's nose with his own, slightly stumbling over his large paws. The silver tom was very eager to begin training and hopped on his toes a bit before giving a sudden sneeze.
