Shrikekit's ready to roll

The long-furred tomkit stared with distrust at the big puddle that had formed near the center of camp. It had just stopped raining, and he decided now would be an excellent time to finally explore the camp. The only drawback was all the puddles and mud leftover. He didn't want to get wet... he hated getting wet. Shrikekit just stared at the water, his ears pricked as he watched his reflection copy his every move. He glanced up to see if any of the big cats were bothered by the water, but they all just skirted around the puddles and continued on with whatever their tasks were. The silver kit blinked his blue eyes and glanced around camp, wondering if there were any other kits exploring today.

"Ah yes.. a victim for mighty Specklestar!" Quietly muttered a kit as she crouched a couple tail-lengths away, tail swishing as she watched Shrikekit's every move. Slowly creeping forwards until she was a leaping distance away, raising her butt into the air with a wiggle of her hips she leaped and smacked her big paws into the tom-kit's back with a chuckle. She was much older than Shrikekit, her ceremony due any day now but with age came size and strength and Specklekit was growing too fast to know how strong she was.

When Specklekit sent Shrikekit whirling into the puddle she pulled up to her full-size, immediately dwarfing him as she strutted in her victory. "Haha! I bet you didn't see me coming!" The she-kit boasted, putting one of her big paws to her puffed out and fluffy chest as she looked down at the soaked kitten with vibrant forest-green eyes.

"Oof!" Shrikekit's gasp mixed with the force of being shoved was cut short when his face hit the surface of the puddle and muddy water flooded into his mouth. "Ugh! Disgusting!" He mewed in annoyance, standing in the puddle and spitting out the gross water, his thick (and now soaked) pelt fluffing out. He was doing his best to shake out all the water, but Shrikekit knew it was going to take so long to finally get his pelt dry... and he'd have to sit and let the water drip through his pelt the whole time, or worse, a queen would have to lick him dry! Shuddering at the thought, the tomkit turned to glare at the kit who had pushed him, but his glare shifted to a look of surprise and awe when he saw how big she was. He definitely wasn't thinking about fighting her now. "Gosh! You're so big! Are you an apprentice or a warrior?" He squeaked, getting out of the puddle and shaking off a bit more.

Specklekit frowned at the mention of her size, why did everyone have to make it obvious that she was so big? Hissing at the small kit she snapped. "No! I'm a kitten like you - you kittypet!" Without hesitation Specklekit leaped onto Shrikekit, being only the slightest bit mindful about the puddles as she nipped at his ears and pounded at his sides with her massive paws with claws sheathed. Tail lashing violently after she leaped off again, looming over the younger kitten she had beat to a pulp. "I'm Specklekit by the way, what's your name?"

She figured it important to introduce herself, despite having just beat up Shrikekit but she figured Waspstep would probably be disappointed that she didn't ask for the tom-kits name... or was that Lionspark? Shrugging her burly shoulders she looked down at Shrikekit, awaiting his response.

Shrikekit's disproportionately large ears flattened against his head when she called him a kittypet, but he didn't have any time to protest before she pounced on him and battered him with her much larger paws and nipped his ears. "Hey! Get off me... ya great lump!" He mewled with difficulty, as the air had been knocked out of his lungs. Shrikekit did his best to kick at her with his hind legs, but they were a bit short and they didn't have the force necessary to remove the much larger kit.

He rolled away from her after she got off and crouched against the ground, his little muzzle twisted into a snarl. Mud and dirt littered his soaked pelt now, dragging all his fur down. "Specklekit? You're a meanie! I'm Shrikekit and I'll get you back when I'm big and strong!" The tomkit huffed in annoyance. Cleaning his pelt would take an eternity! What if he still looked like a mess at his apprentice ceremony? What if he went his whole life covered in dried mud?

Frecklekit chuckled at the two fighting kits. "You two had better get used to each other, or one of the queens is gonna come after you!" She bounced towards Shrikekit and tried to stifle her laughs. "You look to be about as wet as a RiverClan cat."

Why was there so much noise? Barkkit groaned as he padded out of the nursery for the first time since he had been brought back. He had barely slept since he arrived, shoving himself into the back of the nursery to stay away from all of these strange cats he had never seen before. One of the she-cats that didn't ever come out of the nursery tried her best to make the tom feel welcome but how was he supposed to trust her? Who even was she? She had said her name a few times throughout the day, but the small brown tom couldn't seem to remember it. All he knew is that it sounded weird. The queen's name was similar to Wolffang's with two words combined together, but Wolffang was the only name that seemed to sound normal. Everyone else who had a name like that just sounded... off.

So far, he hated this place. There were other kits around that he could try to play with but none of them were the same. None of them were his brother. In fact, he had no clue where Redkit was, and from the way that the two bigger cats talked... Was it Leopardstar and Darkstar? It sounded like he was never going to see his brother again. This is home, they said, but as far as Barkkit knew, home was in the barn with Redkit and Wolffang. Maybe Bear. What even happened...?

The small tom drifted out of his thoughts as Shrikekit's voice filled the air whining about getting back at another cat. Even though Barkkit didn't feel like talking much, his curiosity got the better of him. "What's going on?" he asked, padding up to Shrikekit and Specklekit, his head tilted to one side.

Hawkkit lingered in the nursery, keeping a close eye on Barkkit. It was the least he could do at the moment for Bear, ensuring that his son had a healthy pleasant life. The kit groomed a bit of his chest fur and watched the squabbling kits with his pale eyes, they weren't even fighting correctly, no claws or anything.. He sighed and trotted out to watch closer, perhaps they had technique but were too afraid to use claws. He'd need to learn how they fought anyway. The scent of rouge lingered on Hawkkit but Barkkit smelled faintly of Bear and made the older's stomach twist in grief at the scent. He looked down at Barkkit for a moment, flashing a toothy grin.

Frecklekit was the first to answer Barkkit's question. "These two won't quit fighting...and now Shrikekit's all muddy."

Shrikekit's pelt heated up in embarrassment when more kits flooded out of the nursery. Now they'd all see him like this. He stood back to his usual height, still that of a two-moon kit, and lightly shouldered Frecklekit. "Yeah, well, you look like a... uh... a weird mouse." He countered lamely. Frecklekit was probably the only kit that was close to his age, perhaps younger, as Hawkkit and Barkkit were also older and bigger than he was. Those two were kinda weird but he tolerated their presence anyway. Hawkkit seemed fixated on Barkkit, though, and Shrikekit turned to look back at Frecklekit. "Nah, we're not fighting anymore. And I got muddy in the first place 'cause Specklekit shoved me into that puddle." He said, flicking his tail at the aforementioned puddle. He smiled and raised his paw in a half-menacing manner. "You better look out or you could be the next victim!" He meowed, laughing too much to really sound threatening.

Frecklekit's eyes narrowed with amusement. "Don't worry, you'll be able to get back at her when you're an apprentice." She sent a paw towards Shrikekit in a playful manner, with resulted in a clawful of mud. "Maybe you should go clean up..."

Specklekit watched the bickering with an amused grin, settling herself down she watched the bickering of the other kits. Specklekit frowned down at Frecklekit, an eyebrow that she didn't have raising in inquiry. "No cat will be able to get back at me! I'll be too big and strong for even the strongest warrior to push me down!" Boasted the she-cat, and to drive her point home she got to her paws and quickly pushed Frecklekit to the ground with a chuckle, then turned to wrestle with Hawkkit. Though Hawkkit and Bearkit were older she was much bigger still, giant paws slapped at Hawkkit with vigor.

Frecklekit let out an 'oof' and fell over, wimpering. At first she considered trying to tackle Specklekit herself, but she knew she was just too small. She pulled herself out of the mud, and decided to groom her fur instead. She licked fiercely, pulling the dirt and grime away from her tongue.

Blacktwig was padding along, reflecting wryly on the fact that his injured leg still hadn't healed. He dragged it along, until a blot of mud welted his paw. The tall tom looked down at the kits. He'd grown used to their activities. He planned to just walked leisurely along. The warrior's long, mildly fluffy tail hung down and dragged in a dolorous manner behind him, and his blue-violet stare was level. He sighed with each paw step, but kept his ears perked to make sure the kits were appeased. He tried to move quicker, however, it only pained him more. Maplecloud had told him to rest—oh, how beautiful the grey she-cat was, and caring, too—but he simply couldn't. No.

Hawkkit is a Siberian, he's probably the bigger one here)

Hawkkit hissed and shoved his hind legs into the younger kit's stomach to get her off. His glare drifted to the stare of Blacktwig's eyes for a moment before he returned to the task of batting an unsheathed paw at the she-kit who had decided to interrupt his thinking. Then again, Bear wouldn't be happy if he didn't practice his moves..
