Emberfall was waiting near Fourtrees, her mate Blacktwig sometimes met here and she missed him already. Even though she had seen him recently, it felt like when having kits it was important to meet everyday. She began to curl up, waiting for the usual black-mixed pelt to appear in her vision.

Blacktwig sprinted over to Fourtrees hurriedly, lusting for that bright calico pelt. He dropped down, as fluidly as a stream, and dashed over to Emberfall. Sitting down, he nudged her ear. Her belly was already swollen, and it made him thrill with pride. "Hey," the tom mewed. He settled beside her, wreathing his tail around her plump body. "Are you alright? How have the kits been?" asked Blacktwig, referring to the unborn kits' behavioural habits. He began to softly groom her neck. Blacktwig wondered what the kits would be named, a beatific smile spreading across his face. They'll be beautiful, he thought, just like Emberfall. A slight worry began to heat Blacktwig's fur as he realized that it could happen now, with Emberfall having progressed into her pregnancy. He huffed, eyeing the maternal she-cat protectively, braced for anything.

Emberfall noticed as the handsome sleek tom had visited Fourtrees and began to start his welcome "Hello" she greeted normally, her fur was well groomed and her eyes seemed determined as she seemed ready for the kits just as much Blacktwig was ready for them. She looked down at her swollen white stomach "They seem to be growing quickly" she mewed happily, a smile appearing on her face. She was happy to be a mother again, she knew Blacktwig was too. She began to feel pain rise from her belly, her body twitched.

Blacktwig took a deep breath, smiling as he caressed and groomed Emberfall patiently. The kits would probably be born any time now! He saw Emberfall's body twitch with pain, and he immediately knew what to do. "Emberfall, is it the kits?" he asked worriedly, brushing his cheek up against hers. He saw her hind paws jerk, and anxiety flooded his body. Outside, he remained calm. "Shh..." he cooed gently, layering her head in soft, rhythmic strokes.
