Newleaf was returning. Darkstar could feel it in her fur, the humidity of the storms that often signified the coming of the new season. Prey would be returning in full force soon. The near-black she-cat gracefully ascended the Highrock and called out, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Cinderkit hearing the call was slightly excited and fur a bit everywhere,she scalped from the nursery. Her grey and gibberish fur spiked up here and there.

Her eyes flashed open as she heard the call. Today. It was today. Her last day as a kit. She leaped to her paws and flicked her ears flicked forward. She looked down at her pelt and was appalled at the amount of moss and bracken scraps in it. She gave herself a vigorous shake before quickly grooming her pelt making it shine. The white stood out against the black spots like snow against shadow. She stepped out of the nursery her pelt gleaming in the sunshine and trotted as calmly as she could down toward the clan leader. She sat down beside Cinderkit curling her tail around her paws to hide their kneading the earth nervously. I hope I get a good mentor She thought to herself and looked up at Darkstar her eyes flashing with a combination of excitement and nervousness.

When they had both moved forward, Darkstar's head raised slightly before she continued. The wind was picking up a bit. "Cinderkit and Spottedkit, from this day forth until you receive your warrior names, you shall be known as Cinderpaw and Spottedpaw. Blizzardshine and Jaysong will be your mentors. They are strong, energetic, and skilled warriors, and I know that they will train you well."

The white russet deputy couldn’t help but chuckle with Cinderpaw’s eagerness to start her training “As soon as you want, just say it and I’ll be ready” Discreetly she looked up, the day wasn’t exactly young, but there would be enough time for a good territory tour if the cat wanted to start right away, if not she could plan something more elaborate for the next day.

Spottedpaw flicked her ears forward hearing the name of her mentor. She smiled, flicking her whiskers forward and emitting a rumble of a purr. She turned seeing Jaysong approach and reached out to touch her nose to her mentors. "I'll be the best apprentice you've ever had" She mewed proudly flicking her tail with excitement. She turned her ears to hear Cinderpaw speaking with the deputy, Lucky she-cat. She gets the deputy as a mentor. She thought before turning her ears back to Jaysong. "What should we do first?"
