Cinderkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" Thrushstar yowled.

Cinderkit crawled out of the nursery, hearing Thrushstar's calls. The she-cat sat down, looking at the other cats who were joining at the Jaggedrock. What does Thrushstar want to announce? Cinderkit thought the Clan has been a bit quiet, despite not knowing what's going on. Waiting for the ShadowClan cats, it finally struck the she-cat. Could it be.. my apprentice ceremony? Cinderkit didn't want to get her hopes up, but the thought excited her.

Shimmerkit came out of the nursery, glancing at Cinderkit. The lucky young kit was about to be an apprentice! How she longed to be a medicine cat apprentice herself.

Leopardpaw gathered with a few others in the camp clearing. Cinderkit would be a welcome addition to the apprentices' den. He saw Shimmerkit look longingly at Cinderkit and almost snorted. Doesn't she know that warriors and apprentices can be taken as medicine cat apprentices? She should at least do something useful while she was waiting, he figured. She might never have as much influence as the fierce badger of a medicine cat herself, but if she at least worked hard at what was given then she might be able to gain enough respect to make an actual dent in Ebonyleaf's resolve. Leopardpaw shook his head disapprovingly and looked back at Thrushstar, waiting patiently for the announcement.

Looking down at the clan, the Shadowclan leader continued with his announcement. "Tonight we gather to make this kit an apprentice," he said. "Cinderkit, from today until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Cinderpaw. Your mentor shall be Moonsong. May she teach you everything that she knows." With that, the ceremony was done. All apprentice ceremonies were rather short, sweet, and to the point and this one was no different. Leaping down, he let the clan finish the celebration of the newly named apprentice.

Cinderpaw let out a mrrow of appreciation. I won't fail you, Moonsong! The she-cat spotted Shimmerkit, and gave a sympathetic nod. The kit was waiting for a long time to become Ebonyleaf's apprentice, but maybe she should become an apprentice and help out the Clan to pass the time. Cinderpaw padded to Leopardpaw, her new denmate. "So, where am I sleeping?" the she-cat mewed.
