Some Nice Open Badger-Free Patrollin

Snakeblaze walked into the clearing. "I'm going on a hunting patrol, anyone want to join?" he announced.

Shadewillow hurried up at Snakeblaze's words, eager to escape the confines of camp for once today. "I need something to keep me preoccupied before I go half mad." He mewed, padding up to the tom.

Venompaw approached, she had yet to go on a patrol and it seemed about time "I'll come!" she trotted up to them and nodded her head in greeting "It's about time I get out and do something, Rosefur's been busy" her tail went a little limp, but she understood her mentor's reasons so quickly fixed her posture, she shouldn't look so disappointed

Snakeblaze nodded. He walked out, hoping the two would follow.

Shadewillow gave Venompaw a friendly nudge with his shoulder, noting that the young apprentices tail drooped, "We'll get you caught up, don't worry." he spoke reassuringly, before padding out after Snakeblaze. The cold, brisk air that filled his nose and lungs was a refreshing change from the warm, stifling air that often filled both the camp and all of the dens, and he was thrilled to finally stretch his legs. Casting a sideways glance at Snakeblaze and Venompaw, he finally questioned, "So where do you want to hunt?"

Snakeblaze thought it out already. "We can hunt near Highpine. If there's not much there, we can go to Carrionplace." he said.

Venompaw nodded, trotting after the others. Looking at Snakeblaze curiously, her head tilted to one side, she asked "What's Carrionplace? I've never heard of it. Is it somewhere you go often to hunt? Is there lots there?" She wasn't meaning to bombard them with questions, but she was still doing it regardless of her intentions, mainly due to her excitement at being out of camp and doing something for the clan. Her paws light with enthusiasm, she looked between the other two eagerly

"The Carrionplace is a twoleg dumping ground, it': on the outskirts of our territory and it's filled with rats that are attracted to the filth. We usually tend to stay away from it as the rats there are very dangerous, but during Leafbare when the marshes freeze over, it's a good source of prey." Shadewillow mewed, surprised Rosefur hadn't taken Venompaw out to see the infamous place yet. Glancing over at Snakeblaze, he nodded in agreement with the toms choice, "Highpine sounds good! I don't think any patrol has been there lately." he mewed, picking up a brisk pace in the direction of the Skyclan border.

Venompaw listened closely, making a mental note of everything the tom was saying, and following them closely. At least she knew where the Skyclan border was. She raised her nose to the air, attempting to catch the scent of something nearby but, not catching anything, she lowered it again and sighed, Leafbare wasn't the best time to begin training it seemed. Doing her best to keep pace with the others she glanced around, slightly wary of the ground that seemed to suck her in. She'd not been out of camp a lot and was finding it difficult to adjust to the differences in terrain.
"We won't meet any other clans there will we?" She was directing her question more at Snakeblaze, feeling slightly guilty for attacking Shadewillow with them previously. Her voice hid a little fear beneath her nonchalant tone, she still hadn't done a lot of battle training and didn't want to get in a border skirmish before she could fully defend herself.

OOC: I'll just put in raccoon, since it only has 30 hp.

Snakeblaze was sad he couldn't be certain with the apprentice. "Hopefully we won't, but we might hump into a SkyClan patrol." he answered. He closed his eyes and smelled around. He smelled a faint scent of pine trees, and he pointed in that direction with his tail. He soon saw the tree tall as eight monsters stacked up towering above them. He lifted his nose, opened his mouth and closed his eyes. He soon scented lizard. He spread his legs out and kept his tail low and straight. He crept up to it to find it sitting there. The lizard suddenly ran. He saw why. A raccoon was there. It spotted him and ran at him. He leaped back and hissed. The raccoon swiped it's paw at him.

Shadewillow had padded after Snakeblaze for a few moments, watching the slightly younger tom hunt with the hope that the other tom catching the lizard would inspire him to start hunting as well. Unfortunately for Snakeblaze, a nearby Raccoon had set its eyes on the same lizard, and it was very willing to fight the cat for it. Breaking out into a jog, he let out a curse as the Raccoon swiped at Snakeblaze. He darted out in front of the Raccoon, teeth bared in an exasperated snarl- couldn't they go out on patrol one time without having to fight off some mongering creature? Rearing up in front of the creature, Shadewillow lashed out with powerful, vicious swipes, purposely going for the Raccoon's small, berry-like eyes, while also giving Snakeblaze an adequate amount of time to move out of the way and plan his next move. "Shove off fleabrain!" He snapped, giving a final swipe.

Venompaw had frozen, having spotted the raccoon only when it leaped at Snakeblaze, and in her panic stayed rooted to the spot, her eyes wide and her body tense. She yowled, baring her teeth as she felt her fur stand on end. She'd never actually seen an alive raccoon before, although vaguely remembered her mother showing her one when someone had brought it into camp as prey. She hissed, swatting at it with her paw for fear of getting any closer, it was as big as she was at least. She felt her claws cut into it's skin, the brown fur getting caught on her a little. She bounced back, to avoid getting hurt, her eyes gleaming with fear, but mostly excitement "Fox dung!"

Snakeblaze was relieved as Shadewillow leaped into the fight, and Venompaw. He leaped at the thing and shoved it. "Back off, crowfood eater!" he hissed, stomping his front paw onto the ground, leaving a decent pawprint in the earth. The raccoon hissed and ran in the direction of SkyClan territory. "Well, now he's SkyClan's problem." he said, turning to the direction the lizard ran and smelling around for it. He found the scent and started walking forwards. He once again found the lizard. It ran off again, he must be on edge after the raccoon.
