Twistedpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock, brushing snow off her gray fur. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Finally, the day had come for the oldest apprentice, Twistedpaw, to receive her warrior name. She knew she was ready.

Mossfoot padded out from her den and sat beneath the Tallrock, curious as to what the clan meeting would be about. Looking around, she noticed she was one of the first to arrive, and let out a small chuckle. That wasn't a common sight - normally, she'd be the one running late!

Twistedpaw sat down at the gathering. Her fur was still missing on a clump on her back from her tumble through the brambles, but she felt fine. Better than fine. She saw a glimpse of her mentor talking with Ashstar, which gave her quite a big idea of what this meeting was about. Looking at her leader at her spot next to her mother Mossfoot, she tried to read his expression.

Sprucethorn joined Twistedpaw. " I'm pretty sure today is your day, you excited?" he purred gazing at the she-cat happily. The tom dipped his head in greeting to Mossfoot before glancing at the leader.

Ashstar smiled at the apprentice. "Twistedpaw, please step forwards." Once the she-cat did, she continued. "I, Ashstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Twistedpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

I really was time. This was it. Twistedpaw's heart raced with exitement as she looked at her leader, her crooked tail nervously swishing from one side to the other. "I-I do.." she stammered.

Ashstar nodded. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Twistedpaw, from this moment you will be known as Twistedtail. StarClan honors your dedication and intelligence, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." The leader leapt down and rested her muzzle on top of the new warrior's head.

Twistedtail. that name suited her perfectly. Her muscles relaxed as the leader rested her muzzle on her head, and closed her eyes. She could almost perfectly imagine Heatherstripe looking at her with a smile of approval on her face. Are you proud, Heatherstripe? she thought, her head buzzing with all the things she would do as a warrior.

Sprucethorn purred and gently Nuzzled Twistedtail. He smiled, remembering their kit hood. He remembered the time when he first met her and she said that she hoped her warrior name was Twistedtail. She was right and it suits her so perfectly. Sprucethorn lifted his head, emerald eyes shining. " Twistedtail, huh. I remember you saying that it would be your warrior name." he purred his smile widening.

Mossfoot's smile was as wide as anything when her daughter received her warrior name. Her own kit, all grown up. There was a small sadness to it, but more than that, she was immensely happy for Twistedtail. "I'm so proud of you, love," she purred, gently nuzzling her. "I know you'll do great."
