Unfortunate Events {For The Make Her Blind Plot}

Morningfog followed the scent of the apprentices she had taken out on a patrol. After she lost a squirrel and took chase after it, she returned to an empty clearing with a scent trail. Following it, she grew wary as it crossed the gorge and she followed. Her pace quickened, she wanted to get them out of there and fast.

{Okay, you guys can start posting. After the fight starts, Morningfog will find them and break it up after she's blind.}

The frozen, brittle earth crunched softly under Shallowpaw's feet, the hard, half-frozen shoots of heather pricking his pads uncomfortably- Windclan cat's must have very tough pads! "This was a stupid idea- there's nothing out here to even see! Just hills and hills and more hills." He reflected, continuing to pick his way up the hill. Turning back, the young tom's ears flattened and his eyes screwed up slightly at a rather harsh breeze that buffeted his form, "Hey guys- c'mon! We need to hurry before anyone realizes we're gone!" He called, waiting for the other apprentices who had tagged along on this adventure.

Fallowstripe padded after her former mentor, Morningfog, with a certain jollity inhabiting her blue eyes. Though, uncertainty seemed to twinkle in the midst of her deep fathomages. "Let's make this quick," she hissed, although she wasn't upset at Morningfog. "WindClan might be here..." she glanced around warily, giving a tentative step through the springy lichen that bordered the jagged rocks.
Fallowstripe looked at Shallowpaw, nodding to him. The she-cat gazed out across the gorge, eyes keen and sharp.

Dawnpaw was already uncomfortable with being near the Windclan territory. It made her uneasy and she didn't like it one bit. Shooting a glance at her mother, Morningfog, she shook her pelt and walked in silence.

Hollowpaw growled deep in his throat as the scent of Riverclan cats filled his nostrils. He was in a particularly bad mood and was in no state to be dealing with other clan cats. With a quiet grumble, he crept closer to watch and saw a warrior following the scent of prey near the gorge. "Get away from our territory!" he hissed, stepping closer to block the she-cats path.

Spiderfur wasn't far behind Hollowpaw, and she winced, hearing the hostile tone in his voice. Oh, he better not be trying to start a fight! The little warrior flicked the apprentice's flank with her tail sharply. "They haven't crossed the border. You are not my apprentice, but you need to learn when and when not to speak!" She whispered to him, for the reason that she didn't want to stutter, and also to hide how anxious she was beginning to get at the moment. What if another fight broke out? What if somebody got seriously hurt? Would Fishstar blame the whole of Windclan again if something happened?

Brindlewhisker had been searching for Hollowpaw while out on the moor, but much to her dismay she found the young tom's scent trail leading right to the Gorge; where the fishy scent of Riverclan hung in the air. Breaking out into a quick jog, the young warrior easily covered the distance, and found herself faced with a rather hostile encounter between two rival groups. "Hollowpaw, your heart is in the right place, but there's no need to ruffle any cat's fur." She chided her apprentice, flashing a grateful glance towards Spiderfur. "The last thing we need is another apprentice getting injured here- we barely survived the last time it happened."  She reflected with inward grimace, a shiver creeping down her spine at the recollection of previous events. Padding forward to stand shoulder to shoulder with Spiderfur and Hollowpaw, she glanced over at the opposite party that consisted mainly of apprentices- surely they were no threat?"This doesn't look like a usual patrol- perhaps you should head away before there's trouble." She mewed, confident, warning words not displaying the mounting anxiety she felt as she observed the tension in the air.

The tentative steps Shallowpaw had taken over the Gorge were quickly reversed the moment he had scented Windclan, and he had easily leaped back over the gash in the Earth prior to the arrival of two Windclan cats. Fur prickling at the sight of several Windclan cats, his ears flattened at the young, dark apprentice who hissed at him- he barely looked older than a newborn kit! Flashing a reproachful glance towards Fallowstripe, Dawnpaw, and the others, he stamped a paw in the grainy soil of the ground that surrounded the gorge. "Keep your fur on," he shrugged at Hollowpaw's words, "We weren't doing anything.", his tone brazen. Shallowpaw glared at Hollowpaw, baring his teeth slightly as the apprentice moved to block Fallowstripe.

Morningfog's fur rose slightly at the scent of WindClan, spotting Shallowpaw. A WindClan patrol had found the apprentice and one of their own was already on pursuit. When Shallowpaw had a moment of genius and crossed the gorge again, Morningfog wanted to bolt out of their. "We just needed to get our apprentice back." she said, sending Shallowpaw a look of warning. "Let's just leave it at that." she said, with a wary look, she peered down the steep drop of the gorge. She had jumped into it twice now, saving kits. This place shouldn't be here, no clan should even have this horrid border! With a shudder at the thought, she looked back up at the rival patrol, spotting Spiderfur. She really didn't want a fight to result from this.

{Shallow and Hollow can start it but, don't forget that Smokepelt needs to join the party to blind Morningfog and Blossompaw isn't here yet so, don't get too into it.}

Dawnpaw shrank back, clearly not lookin for a fight. She gave Shallowpaw a pointed stare, willing him to leave it as it was, but she doubted that would happen.

Hollowpaw had turned to the other cats in the Windclan patrol but they only said things that the sleek tom didn't want to hear. He spoke again, then, hissing under his breath but he made sure that he was loud enough for Shallowpaw to hear. "I was making sure they didn't do anything,"

Fallowstripe felt the breeze ruffle her thin fur. Seems like something else ruffled it, too, she thought tartly, staring across at Hollowpaw. The tom seemed much too eager to start a fight, and he wasn't afraid to show it. Her tail lashed, and she stepped up beside Morningfog, who prudently peered down the steep drop of the gorge. She gazed thankfully at Spiderfur, who had stopped the pining apprentice from pouncing halfway across the gorge. It'd be better if he dropped, continued Fallowstripe, mentally, and surely sourly.

Silentpaw, who had stayed true to his name, silently walked behind the others. He had fun on patrols, but was always scared to run into enemy cats or badgers, foxes, etc.

IC: Smokepelt's fur bristled as the WindClan cats stood across the gorge from the RiverClan patrol. Although he wanted to claw their fishy fur, he stayed where he was, remembering how he'd promised to his mother that he wasn't going to cause anymore trouble. This time, if those scum-hearted cats wanted to fight, then he'd be all for it, but until then, he needed to control his urge to battle.

Looking to Hollowpaw, the deputy gave a smirk at the apprentice's tone. He was definitely protective of his clan, and that personality reminded him of himself. Looking back from the apprentice and the WindClan cats, his cold gaze rested upon the RiverClan cats once more. Even though they were on their side of the border, it was evident that they'd crossed the boundary line and that made the tom even more angry towards the neighboring clan. "Apparently, RiverClan needs to teach their apprentices what a border is," the tall tom hissed, his hackles raised as he looked to Morningfog who stood across the gorge from the WindClan patrol.

Fallowstripe looked up at Smokepelt, his snarky comment making her pelt bristle. Looks like prissy momma's-boy has no better mentality than an apprentice, she thought, but admired his courage. Mouse-hearted courage, no better than none, she reminded herself bitterly, tail flicking Morningfog. Is she over the border? wondered Fallowstripe promptly.

Brindlewhisker's gaze narrowed at Smokepelt, tail twitching in irritation.Looking down at Hollowpaw, she tried to bite back a sigh; why couldn't the toms take a hint that nobody else wished to fight? "There's been enough trouble here as of late, you don't need to start anything." she mewed to Hollowpaw, voice laden with annoyance as she stared out at both parties. "And I'm sure that both Fishstar and Ashstar would not appreciate another skirmish between our Clans." She added- was every cat just ignoring what happened last time there was conflict at the Gorge?



Shallowpaw snorted at Smokepelt's words- why in Starclan's name was this tom a deputy if he couldn't even behave like a warrior? Heeding Morningfog's warning, he allowed himself to relax and sheathed his claws; if anything happened, he wouldn't start it. "Windclan cat's are as empty headed as the rabbits they chase- no wonder every cat snickers behind their backs at the Gathering." he reflected, shuffling his paws in the grainy soil that made up the edge of the Gorge. "We're here to make sure you don't do anything- we all know how bloodthirsty Windclan can get around the Gorge." He challenged, tilting his chin up as he glared over at Hollowpaw. Well neither of them were old enough to truly remember Frogjaw's accident, but still.

Dawnpaw flinced at the words being shot at at both Shallowpaw and Hollowpaw. Much as she disliked the tom, she could see how fiercly loyal he was to his clan and, much to her own dismay, slightly admired him for it. Though the she-cat only allowed her fur to bristle and stayed silent. She didn't want to accidentally initiate a fight.

Hollowpaw puffed out his chest and shot a glare at Shallowpaw. "Look, if you're not careful, it'll be your blood." His smirk remained, even when he heard Brindlewhisker. The tom was beginning to grow agitated that he was seemingly being hissed at by every cat, even from his own clan, apart from Smokepelt, who seemed to have a similar approach to the situation. The sleek apprentice moved his head closer to his mentors, only for him to whisper, "You're scolding be for being loyal?" with his brow raised. The fur on his back began to prickle, but he shook his pelt and irritably smoothed the fur back down.

"Shallowpaw! That is enough. This petty fight is wasting time we can spend feeding the clan. Smokepelt, I apologize for his behavior, I think the cold froze his brain." she said with agitation in her eyes. "We're cutting this patrol short, Shallowpaw needs to take a stroll in his own territory to calm down." She meowed, flicking her tail.
