A series of unfortunate events (closed)

Having just returned from the dirt-place, Sunflower gave his pelt a shake, his blue “sky-pelt” shaking back and forth with it. A thick layer of snow had blanketed the surrounding forest the night of, and being so early in the morning with the sun barely having begun to rise, it was odd not seeing many of his clanmates up and buzzing around the camp. He assumed that the early morning patrol had already left, which was why it was so peaceful, and now that he thought about it, it was almost too quiet, and of course, he just had to think too soon.

With a loud snap followed by a bone trembling thud, something fell from the sky just pawsteps away from the drowsy eyed warrior. Letting out a hiss of fear, Sunflower lept into the air as a flurry of snow shrouded the camp around him. He had no clue what’d happened, and he wasn’t about to stick around to find out.

Sprinting out of camp with his long tail trailing behind him, the warrior fled for his life, not taking a moment to think about where he was even headed. As long as he was away from whatever had jumped down at him, he would be fine, or so he thought.

Skidding to a halt, Sunflower’s lungs ached from breathing in the cold morning air and his legs grew wobbly as he caught his breath, huffing and puffing. Swiveling his long-framed head around, his abnormally large ears immediately fell against his head and his tail took its usually placed tucked under his rump. How in Silverpelt’s name had he gotten all the way to the Fallen Oak? Spottedstar was going to have his hide if he found out where he’d been and he had to get back, quickly.

Kits. Kits. Kits. Kits. Kits. As much as he tried to shake away the thought from his head, there was nothing he could do to banish it. Dacedream was going to have his kits. In the changing season and several moons of his life, he'd gone from kit to apprentice to warrior and finally deputy. Things shifted as they always did in life, and yet, the tom had never once considered being a father himself. He and Dacedream weren't exactly mates, and he wasn't sure they ever would be because she was simply his best friend and in his mind that would never change. But she was going to be the mother to his kits, their kits. Houndheart shook his head and rushed forwards, crunching the snow beneath his paws. His own parents had been the worst kind; Ridgelight was the mother that lead to the slaughter of his littermates and almost himself, Beartooth was the father who abandoned his kit in a struggle with his own complex feelings.

Even with his own past weighing over him, and the terror of having to raise kits himself, he couldn't help but find excitement stirring in his paws at the notion. It confused the deputy deeper than he was willing to admit. In the efforts to shake away the thought, the lanky tom found himself near the border with Skyclan. There was the scent of tree-dwellers and he wrinkled his nose. The fallen oak was where he had fought that apprentice so long ago. Long-legs easily brought him to the top of the landmark. Immediately, his eyes set on a cat on the other side and his ears flattened. Some lanky, pathetic creature was lurking right at the border. Worse, the enemy warrior was coated in something blue as the sky above. Houndheart, reckless as always and already with a churning mind, did not hesitate to launch himself forward and bowl over the enemy cat. The growl in his throat was low as he pinned his opponent to the ground, "What are you doing near Thunderclan? And what in Thunderstar's name is on your pelt? You need to crawl back to whatever strange, rotting tree you came from, mousebrain."

Houndheart used leap and hold, dealing 9 damage and using 10 stamina. Sunflower is held for two turns.

Letting out a yowl of surprise and pain as he was suddenly pinned down, the lengthy tom looked up at his attacker. He didn't know the tom personally, but knew he was a ThunderClanner from his mousy scent. Why in StarClan's name had this cat jumped him? He hadn't been doing anything wrong, had he? Trying to wriggle free, it seemed as though his efforts were in vain...

Sunflower is stunned.
