The Lichen That Grew In the Light of Thunder(close who signed up for the finding Lichenkit plot and Night as well))

Leopardpaw nodded gratefully to Emberheart, relieved that Lichenkit would have a mother if she was accepted. Though he felt a deep connection to the small kit, he didn't consider for a moment that he would adopt her. He was only an apprentice, that would just be strange. Emberheart would be a great caretaker, and the golden tom would forever be grateful to her for rescuing him on that snowy night. Smiling down at the she-kit, he continued to wait for Darkstar's judgement.

Lichen blinked and looked at Emberheart and blinked for a moment grateful that if she did get this place as a home she would have a mother of sorts. She looked at Darkstar

ic- Darkstar listened quietly to Mottledwing and Leopardpaw, but was somewhat surprised when Emberheart approached them. The leader mulled over the idea of accepting this rogue kit into her clan and was quick to realize how hypocritical and harsh she would seem if she refused to allow this kitten to stay. Leopardpaw was not of clan blood, so it would be inconsistent if she turned this one away. Not to mention that taking care of a kit in need, no matter where they came from, was a key part of the warrior code. "She can stay. Starclan would be furious if we allowed a kitten to freeze in these conditions, no matter their blood ties."

Lichen blinked once then twice as she heard she could stay. She then looked at Emberheart,then Mottledwing before she tried to look at Leopardpaw who still held her.

Dipping her head towards Darkstar, she glanced towards the kit dangling from Leopardpaw's maw, a million questions building up inside—but only one was asked.

"What's her name?"

Oh thank StarClan! Leopardpaw heaved a great sigh of relief, and dipped his head respectfully to his leader. "Thank you, Darkstar!" He hoped she could tell how much this meant to him.

Turning away, with the she-kit hanging from his jaws, he met Emberheart's gaze and placed the she-cat at her foster mother's paws. "Her name is Lichen, or Lichenkit now I guess."

Giving the small calico a swift lick on the forehead, he backed away. He knew Emberheart would take great care of her.

Lichen blinked as she was set down. She looked up at Leopardpaw as he set her down with moss green eyes. She looked then up at Emberheart."yeah..um my name is Lichen"she mewed.

She nodded, crouching down to sniff at the kit before rasping her tongue between the young calico's ears. "Litchenkit it is then," she murmured, before glancing up at Leopardpaw. 


"I will take good care of her," Emberheart promised. She knew how much this meant to the young tom.

Nudging her softly towards the nursery, the russet she-cat turned her back on the group of cats that had gathered. She'd let Pinewhisker know later. Though Emberheart had hoped to be out and about as a warrior again earlier, since her kits were almost apprentices, she would remain loyal to her clan against everything else. And, she thought as she rolled on her side against the moss, opening up her belly for the small kit, this is the most I can do for Thunderclan at the moment—supply them with a new, healthy future warrior.

Lichen now called Lichenkit let herself be nudged in the direction of the den. She after a moment got the hint and continued towards the den. Once inside she looked around nervously before she made her way over to the queen and started to suckle at her belly.
