Fracturedhawk watched still, lifting his head as he also noticed the mouse. He stalked alongside the undergrowth, keeping hidden while also keeping his eyes on his apprentice. He watched in dismay as the mouse escaped.

Dawnpaw padded around, still determine, and searched eagerly for another scent. She was going to do this.

Eventually she caught the scent of a bird, a waterfowl. She sighed with dismay but crept forward. No, it wasn't a mouse, but it was still prey and the clan needed all the prey they could find. She stalked toward it but to her annoyance she had been so caught up in her thoughts she had forgotten to check where she was and the wind was not in her favour. With a huff, she watched the bird fly off and inwardly groaned.

Fracturedhawk crept along, hidden in the undergrowth, watching as she attempted to catch yet another piece of prey. He knew she could do it.

With a huff, Dawnpaw crouched low for the fourth time and set about trying to find yet another scent.

However, in her growing bad mood, she didn't bother to check what scent it was and leapt over, hissing quietly as the prey vanished - before she even got a look at it.

OOC: Sorry for the short post, I'm running out of ideas lol - dice are mean.

Fracturedhawk watched as she pounced once more and missed.

Dawnpaw did catch another scent, but as she followed it she realised that another warrior or apprentice had buried a fish and forgotten to take it back, so she left it where it was and planned to return it to camp.

With another huff, Dawnpaw continued her search.

Fracturedhawk watched her.

ooc: Yes! Dawnpaw, you did it! Thank Starclan for the new hunting system!

Dawnpaw, annoyed by her many failed hunting attempts, was not prepared for the scent of a mouse, sleeping in it's nest. The nest had a rather strong scent, and the tabby she-cat guessed there might be more than one mouse there. This, however, did not stop her and she eagerly stalked forward with a new sense of determination. She would catch this - her warrior name depended on it. To her luck, as she crept forward, she realised that one mouse was poking it's head out of the hole it had made, and it was peering around to check for any danger. Without a second thought, the apprentice sprang. The mouse began to dart back inside, but Dawnpaw was faster. Her claw struck the mouse and pulled it out.

With a shocked, cheerful face, Dawnpaw returned to Fracturedhawk, placing the mouse at her paws and looking straight up at him with a gleam in her eye. The young cat had done it. She'd caught a mouse, just like her mentor had requested - she'd done it and could become a warrior.

Fracturedhawk perked his ears, a sudden interest coursing through him as he realized Dawnpaw had found something and proved a high percentage of actually catching it. The tom observed quietly, a small smile forming on his muzzle as he realized she had caught the mouse.

"Great catch!" He called, pushing his way out from the under growth, revealing his hiding spot. "Any cat with a quick catch like that is ready to be a warrior." He purred, proud of his apprentice. "Now, let's head back to camp, I'm going to tell Fishstar how well you did."

OOC: Edited, lol. Forgot to check the new hunting system, but I did just now and I'm loving it! Just saved Dawnpaw xD
