Goosekit's Apprentice Ceremony

She had to take better care of herself! Darkstar had fallen ill yet again, and she still had no clue as to why. 'Dreamleaf doesn't have any answers either.' The thick-furred leader clambered up onto her meeting place and called out, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Pinewhisker padded at the call of the leader, looking keenly at her from the clearing. "I wonder what it is this time..." he murmured to himself, exhausted after a morning of hunting.

Blacktwig sauntered up to the Highrock. Blizzardshine, the deputy, had been in charge of most ceremonies these days. He sat down beside Pinewhisker, keeping his paws close to his stomach, and stance straight. "Greetings, Pinewhisker," he mewed, dipping his head to the tom.

Grasswhisker had spent a couple minutes grooming her kit. Pride shined in her eyes. Goosekit is going to be an apprentice! She couldn't stop smiling and shifted excitedly while padding out if the nursery.

Goosekit slowly walked toward the rock. She was wonder what was this so important news, for which leader was calling everyone. But when her mother looked her so strangely and with pride, she imediatelly remembered; she was old enough to be an apprentice!

Even though she still felt a tad bit ill, the leader's eyes glimmered as she looked down at the kitten. "Goosekit, please step forward."

The brown tomcat nodded to Blacktwig in greeting, exchanging questioning looks with the dark tom. He wondered whether they shared the same exhaustion. Pinewhisker pricked his ears in intesrest as he noted the kit being called forward. Goosepaw. Rolls on the tongue. he thought, gently hoping the best of luck to the soon-to-be apprentice.

Blacktwig tested the name in his head too, and it seemed as smooth as ever. He easily exchanged glanced with the other tom, as it was customary for the duo to do. He then realized that Goosekit was Grasswhisker and Blazestrike's kit, and he smiled widely at the she-cat. His pride radiated off of him swiftly.

Goosekit slowly steped forward and took quick look of other cats, which watches ceremony with curiosity. They were even saying some strange name. Who did this name belonged to?

"Goosekit. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time that you became apprenticed." The leader took in a breath of the chilly air. "From this day forth you shall be known as Goosepaw. Your mentor will be Mistywater, and I know she will train you to the best of her ability."

Blacktwig heard the name of his mother being called up as mentor, and he knew that Pinewhisker was bound to make a comment. The pinecone-brown tom knew everything about his life, after all. He nearly chuckled, but bit his tongue between his teeth. He grinned up at Goosepaw, pelt shining.

"Goosepaw! Goosepaw!" His mother yowled loudly, welcoming her kit as an apprentice. She approved of Darkstar's choice and dipped her head towards Mistywater with a smile. After giving her a moment to herself, Grasswhisker padded towards her to offer up a more formal greeting.

"Congratulations," Her tongue swiped over her daughter's ear lovingly and a purr broke from ger throat, "You're going to be an impressive apprentice and I know you'll make both me and your father proud."

Goosepaw was very proud that she could began her journey into clan life. Now she will be more important and will have many duties.
