Dawns Light ((CLOSED))

Fracturedhawk sat at the entrance of the RiverClan camp, waiting for his now official apprentice, Dawnpaw, to arrive. He had planned a patrol, maybe not for hunting, but just a simple border check, and if they had the time, he figured he might as well squeeze in some battle training if that's what was desired.

OOC: Also, I believe on monday or sometime next week Dawnpaw will be ready for her assessment! :O Man, It's gone fast xD

Dawnpaw yawned and stretched from outside the apprentices den. She was going on a patrol with Fracturedhawk - who had finally become her official mentor - and was, although tired, excited. A patrol was normally fun, even if they didn't actually do much. It was fun because sometimes they met other clans patrol at the edge of borders, or they did some hunting while they were out - sometimes even a little battle training! Dawnpaw contained a lot of enthusiasm when it came to apprentice duties, too. She'd do them without complaint, wanting to get them done ASAP.

When she saw her mentor sitting at the entrance to Riverclan camp, she hurried over and glanced out into the territory. "Morning, Fracturedhawk!" she mewed, happily.

Fracturedhawk turned his head at the sound of Dawnpaw's voice, and quickly nodded a greeting. "Hello, Dawnpaw. Ready to go?" He asked, flicking an ear. He could tell she was excited, even if it was just a simple patrol. He smiled, it's what he liked about the young apprentice, she was always so happy about her surroundings.

Dawnpaw grinned, "Of course!" she mewed and looked up at her mentor. "Where are we gonna patrol today, Fracturedhawk?" she asked, enthusiastically.

Fracturedhawk thought for a moment, completely forgetting to plan ahead. "Perhaps alongside the gorge, or Sunningrocks even," he looked over at her, "which would you prefer?" He asked, wanting an opinion from his apprentice.

Dawnpaw hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Let's go to sunningrocks!"
She enjoyed going to Sunningrocks, and she hadn't been for a while so it would be nice to go there. When she returned maybe she'd tell her mother about all the things she'd seen and done - it would be nice to talk to Morningfog again. Since hearing about Smokeface's disappearance (Smokeface was Dawnpaw's father and Morningfog's mate) Dawnpaw had felt lonely and her siblings were always out on patrol with their own mentors and friends, so that only added to Dawnpaw's bubble of misery. Though, she had spoken to her mother a few times recently and it helped a little. The tabby she-cat wanted to talk to her brother, Poplarpaw, soon too. They hadn't spoken much at all since their apprentice ceremonies.

Dawnpaw flicked her gaze back to her mentor and smiled, hiding her thoughtful emotions.

Fracturedhawk nodded, happy she had chosen the location that was alongside the ThunderClan border, instead of the WindClan one. Things were still tense between the two clans, and he didn't exactly desire to run into a WindClan patrol with just him and his apprentice.

"Let's head that way then." The older tom said happily, then turned directions and headed toward the river.

Dawnpaw nodded, shaking away her earlier thoughts. Instead she re-gained her usual happy mood, and trotted up beside her mentor. She breathed in the scents of the territory and smiled. She loved the river and couldn't wait to get over there; It was one of her favorite places.

Fracturedhawk lead Dawnpaw to the frozen over river, pausing as the bank. He glanced up to see Sunningrocks on the other side. "After you," he offered, and waited for his apprentice to cross the ice.

Dawnpaw came to a stop beside her mentor, then glanced at the frozen over river with a sense of awe. Though she wasn't a fan of Leaf-bare -no cat was- the ice over the river was truly an amazing sight. Dawnpaw had always been one aware of her surroundings. Nodding to Fracturedhawk, she began to step cautiously out onto the ice. She continued to walk carefully across it until she felt the ice grow thicker underpaw. Here she sped up a little, reaching the other side with a sigh of relief. Once she was safely over she turned back to face her mentor, waiting for him to also come across.

Fracturedhawk carefully stepped onto the ice after his apprentice, watching where he put his paws to prevent himself from slipping. After a moment, he found himself at the base of Sunningrocks beside Dawnpaw. He glanced over at her, and motioned with his tail for her to follow him. The warrior weaved his way around the smooth yet cold stones as he scented for prey or signs that ThunderClan had been there.

Once they were both across, the she-cat followed her mentor, weaving past the stones just as Fracturedhawk had done. Her ears perked up to hear any signs of danger, and she opened her jaws to taste the air. She couldn't find anything interesting, other than a few stale scents, so she looked up at the tom.

"It seems no ThunderClan cats have been here, recently at least." He was reminded of the time Poplarpaw had been over this way and attacked by a TunderClan cat, it had been a while ago though, and apart from that it seemed there were no other rival scents, not even prey.

Fracturedhawk turned to face Dawnpaw, "would you like to stay here and search for prey? Or head back to camp now that we've gotten to marking to border."

Dawnpaw thought for a moment. "Well, the clan needs all the prey it can get, especially I'm Leafbare." She said with a flick of her tail, glancing around. "We might as well take a peek around to see if anything is here." She added and looked up to see his mentors opinion.

Fracturedhawk nodded, "I'd prefer you to try and hunt a little anyways, practice a bit." He smiled, staying where he was. This patrol was mostly for her anyway.
