Kindlekit and Furzekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Jumping up to the Tallrock, Smokepelt looked down at the buzzing clan, surprised at how active and helpful everyone was even with the cold of Leafbare. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Tallrock for a clan meeting!" the tom yowl, a smile on his face through his injured jaw. Today he would give his two newest kits their apprentice names and was so overjoyed to see them thriving in the clan. They were true WindClan cats at heart, no doubt about it.

Laying in the nursery, Kindlekit perked her ears when she heard her father's call. Jumping up from where she laid, the slender dark grey kit nudged Furzekit with her paw, and bounded over to Hazefur, letting out an excited meow, ecstatic to get out of the nursery. Was this their big day? Where they going to become apprentices? Looking back to Hazefur and itching with excitement, she looked to the queen, eager to know if she could leave the nursery to attend the meeting.

Hazefur woke slowly to the sound of Smokepelt's call, then smiled at the sight of an obviously eager Kindlekit. She got to her paws, gave the she-kit a quick lick on the fore head to smooth out a tuft of fur, then sent her and her brother on their way, waiting a moment before following.

Furzekit had already been awake that morning, and being the cat he was, the young tom was already smoothing out the mess of his pelt. Bits of fur stuck out in every direction, and when he finally finished, Kindlekit had woken up.

The tom flicked his ears at the sound of his fathers call, and smiled as he and kindlekit were nudged outside by their mother.

Smiling at his two kits, Smokepelt continued. "Kindlekit, Furzekit, please step forward," he started. "You both have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Kindlepaw and Furzepaw. Hazefur and I shall be your mentors. I hope that we pass down all we know onto you," he finished, pleased to see his kits grow up.

Jumping down from the Tallrock, Smokepelt met his son and touched noses with him. "I can't wait to start training with you," he meowed softly to the fluffy tom.

Letting out a happy mew, Kindlekit made her way to the front of the crowd with Furzekit and sat down, eager to see what her father had to say. When she heard her name called, she practically leaped forward, puffing out her chest in a proud sort of way.

Hazefur? My mentor? How wonderful! she thought to herself, bounding over to her mother to touch noses with her. "I can't wait to start training!" she happily meowed.

Furzepaw smiled, patiently listening till the very end. Smokepelt? My father, he's going to be my mentor? The smile that lay upon the apprentices muzzle grew widen, and he jumped up to greet his new mentor.
