A Patrol [closed]

Crouching down and hoping for redemption, the young she-cat leaped at the frog she had sniffed out. Missing by just a tad bit, she stared with glazed eyes as the frog leaped out of reach.

IC: Well, at least she was almost done. Mudfoot followed her, staying as quiet as possible even though the crunching snow was becoming a bit of an annoyance. Watching from behind a thick trunk of a pine tree, the warrior watched as his apprentice unsuccessfully tried to catch a frog. Although she missed this one, he knew that she could do it and had faith in the young she-cat. The patrol was almost over, or so he hoped.

Blazepaw, who was becoming restless and tired with her repetitive crouching, leaping and missing, decided that it was time to up her game. She had realized that if she really wanted to become a warrior, then she would have to really focus on catching one more frog. It could be the decider on whether or not she became a warrior, and she didn't want to blow it. She knew that this would be the one. Sniffing out a frog, she silently told herself that if she didn't catch this frog, she would go back to camp with three frogs. She didn't want to let Mudfoot down, and she most definitely didn't want to let Thrushstar down. This was it. As soon as she locked onto the scent of the frog, she slowly crept around barren brushes and made sure that her tail wasn't touching the ground, and to keep her balance correct. With the frog in front of her, she took a soft breath, and leapt up with all of her courage. It had felt as if she was soaring forever, but when she finally landed on the frog, she knew that Mudfoot was watching her, and she could see him congratulating her already. Standing up tall with the frog in her mouth, she trotted back to where the other frogs were burie, and with her muzzle stuffed but showing a wide smile, she strutted into a small clearing, hoping for Mudfoot to appear behind her and have a small chat with her.

"Good job! I think that concludes today's patrol, you passed your assessment!" Mudfoot meowed with joy, running over to Blazepaw who'd finally finished hunting. He couldn't wait to see her become a warrior.
