Beautiful Now [closed]

Sitting at the bank of the river, a chilly breeze sent shivers up her spine. Birds started to sing, occasionally flying out of the safety of the reeds, and chasing each other around through the sky. The top, visible layer of the usually lively river was frozen over, although not enough so that RiverClan couldn't hunt. Petalbreeze, being hungry after a good nights sleep punched a hole in the thin layer of ice and managed to catch a fish, although it wasn't a piece of prey she would've been proud of. It didn't matter though, after this morning, she wouldn't need to try to be the best warrior, hunting, fighter, or anything. After today, her and Shatteredpaw would be free. Free to do what they wanted; no violence, no borders, no rivals, just them and the open world. Maybe they would travel to the Highstones or maybe they'd find a place to settle around the barn, but all Petalbreeze knew at this point was that she wanted out of here.

Just recently she'd received her warrior name and although it pained her to just abandon her clan like this, she knew in the end, everything would be alright. It wasn't that she didn't love her family, but in the long run they were probably better off with out. Besides, it wasn't that they really noticed her anyway, so what difference did it make? So, just as they'd planned, she'd awoken before the sun and made her way to the river before the camp started stirring. Sitting alone for what seemed like forever, the cream she-cat started to get a bit worried that Shatteredpaw wouldn't be coming. Had he be discovered? Would they not be able to leave today? She knew the consequences of them leaving and excepted the fact that they wouldn't be able to come back, but would they even make it out of the territory?

Feeling her heart starting to race, the sound of a twig snapping caught her attention."Shatteredpaw?" the she-cat asked, turning her head around in the direction that she'd heard the twig snap. Thinking fast, she prepared a good excuse for her being out of the camp alone, just in case it wasn't who she wanted to see.

Shatteredpaw remember Petalpa- Petalbreeze now, he'd have to get used to calling her that, mentioning where to meet for their plan to leave the clan. Sure he felt bad, but he wasn't really noticed, similar to what Petalbreeze had told him. It was really only the kits that had wanted to play or talk with him, and he knew they wouldn't miss him too much, besides, it was more important for him to be with the one he loved...

The old apprentice stalked through the reeds, careful not to cause too much noise. He paused to scent the air, making sure his friend was already where they had planned to meet. Hope I'm not too late, he thought as he pushed through another clump of reeds. "Petalbreeze?" He called lightly, making sure that if she wasn't here, no other cat would question why he, and apprentice, was out of camp alone.

Seeing it Shatteredpaw, Petalbreeze let her muscles relax. "Glad you could make it," she said jokingly, standing up and nudging his shoulder with hers. Looking down the river, she let out a nervous sigh. "You ready?" the warrior meowed to her best friend, worry in her eyes. She didn't know why she was so worried but now that the moment grew closer, she didn't really know what to think. Were they really going to do this?

"I wouldn't miss this." The tom said as he came up beside the she-cat, a small smile resting on his muzzle. "Yes, we should get going." He quickly added after she spoke again. He hated to admit it, but he was eager to leave. Like what Petalbreeze had said, he didn't have too many friends within the clan, other than her herself.

Giving Shatteredpaw a nod, Petalbreeze walked into the river and swam across into their new life. As of now, they didn't have a set plan of where to go, but it didn't matter. For now, all she wanted was to enjoy Shatteredpaw's presence and the open trail. They'd head towards the barn and maybe even Highstones, but for the young cat, thinking that far was a bit too much for her to handle. Her family would be fine, she was sure of it. And besides, who knew, maybe she'd come back to visit someday.

Giving her pelt a shake, Petalbreeze looked to Shatteredpaw who'd caught up with her and nudged him on the cheek with her muzzle. "To a new life."
