A Windy Day's Patrol (OPEN)

Brindlepaw settled down beside the entrance that gaped in the prickly gorse-wall, her long fur ruffled by the cold wind that buffeted the moorland viciously. Twisting her head, Brindlepaw began to groom the soft fur that encased the lean muscle of her shoulder as she eyed the camp- she was assigned to go on a border patrol today, but she needed another warrior or two before she could leave the confinement of camp. Continuing the quick grooming of her fur, Brindlepaw continued to wait for more cats to join her patrol.

Walking over to hos granddaughter, Smokepelt held a smile on his muzzle as he purred. "Wait for a patrol I presume?" the deputy chuckled, giving the apprentice a lick on her head. He was so proud of how well she was doing and couldn't wait to see her become a warrior.

Duskpaw came padding over to join the patrol. "Can i come too?" he had been looking for something to keep him busy after Squirrelpaw's throat got ripped out.

Emberfall padded out of the warriors den, she noticed as a small group of cats was beginning to form so she decided to go over, thinking it would be a patrol. Once she had gotten over to the group she knew that it was a patrol. She hadn't been out much so maybe stretching her legs wouldn't hurt. She looked at Brindlepaw "May I join as well if it's no trouble?" she asked.

Brindlepaw purred as Smokepelt approached, nuzzling his cheek in response to his affectionate greeting- it was Smokepelt who brought her to Windclan and raised her like his own, but ever since she was apprenticed her new duties often kept her busy throughout the entire day. Fluffing out her fur as a particularly strong gust of wind rushed through the camp, Brindlepaw rose to her paws and stretched her stiff limbs. "Yes- I was supposed to go on the dawn patrol, but I overslept, so I need to find another patrol quick before I get my ears clawed off!" Brindlepaw looked over as Duskpaw padded up, her whiskers twitching as he approached the group. Flicking her ear, Brindlepaw gave Duskpaw a friendly flick of her tail as he asked to join the patrol, her pelt still ruffled from sleep and the wind. "Of course you can join- I think we could both use a good run." Brindlepaw teased, her tone warm.  Brindlepaw nodded happily at Emberfall's request as well, her small paws working the peaty ground eagerly as her muscles- lean and strong underneath her glossy coat- twitching in anticipation of the prospect of a run through the moor. "We should probably leave now- just in case this wind brings in a storm." Brindlepaw mewed, looking up and tasting the crisp leaf-fall air, her nose twitching.


(ooc: Isn't Emberfall Brindlepaw's mentor? I can't remember correctly and I'm too lazy to check the apprentice ceremony topic.)

OOC: dude thats mind reading you guys shouldn't know that Squirrelpaw got attacked.

IC: "Yeah we should." Duskpaw agreed he took a step out of camp and waited for the others to start the patrol.

Emberfall smiled as she got an approving not from her apprentice, Brindlepaw. She nodded "I think it would be a good idea to start, we don't want to take all day to finish this patrol" she mewed "Are we just hunting or doing a border patrol?" she asked. The calico she-cat hadn't hunted in some time, it would be nice to also get her skill up and go on a small walk while doing so.

Nodding to Brindlepaw, Smokepelt waited for the rest of the patrol. He didn't mind where they went or what what they did, he just wanted to get out of the crowded camp.

OOC: Uh, if Squirrel got attacked, it would be pretty obvious...

"Maybe we can do both- as long as the borders are quiet then we should have enough time." Brindlepaw mewed enthusiastically, her tail flicking excitedly as she flexed her shoulders as she looked at her mentor for approval. Tasting the air once more and detecting the faintest trace of rain, Brindlepaw squeezed through the prickly entrance to the camp and paused outside of the camp as the wind continued to blow powerfully- further tangling her messy fur. Well what are we waiting for?" Brindlepaw demanded before breaking out in a steady run, and bounded up the rather steep hill that encased the camp; relieved to finally stretch her legs after being cooped up in camp all day. Stopping at the top of the ridge, Brindlepaw inhaled deeply, the strong wind bringing fresh scents of all the other clan territories as she patiently waited for the rest of the patrol.

Emberfall nodded, once Brindlepaw had decided to start and run Emberfall soon followed after. Her legs stepped onto leaves that had fallen from the orange, yellow, and red few trees. She stopped and turning around, waiting for the rest of the cats to catch up. She flicked her tail and pawed the ground. The grass was so soft. Life in WindClan was beautiful to Emberfall, it would never change either. She had faith in a strong and bright future for WindClan and the rest of the Clans. Even though fighting would still happen, she couldn't stop that. Everything was great, no trouble would happen soon, right?

Falconstone stayed at the back of the group, his tall frame awkwardly looking around. He would just quietly follow the patrol. He was a little tired today.

Duskpaw despite his sadness ran along side Brindlepaw until the reached the ridge. "Are we going to go in pairs?" he asked. "Or are we going to hunt alone."

Following the patrol, Smokepelt stayed quiet, letting out a yawn. The tom had been busy with his warrior duties and going on such a leisurely patrol felt a bit slower than he'd been used to for the past while. Walking up the ridge, the deputy let out a content sigh. "Great view, is it not?" he meowed softly to Brindlepaw.

"The best!" Brindlepaw mewed excitedly, her plumed tail tip twitching eagerly in the wind as she stared at the browning grasses of the moorland. After staring at the rolling hills for a few heartbeats, Brindlepaw turned to look Emberfall with wide eyes, "We should check the Riverclan border, there's bound to be something exciting there." Brindlepaw mewed to her mentor- ever since the Gathering things had likely been even more tense on the border. "Then maybe we can hunt of the way back?" She suggested, beginning to pace restlessly.

Emberfall nodded "That's a great idea Brindlepaw!" she mewed, following soon behind her apprentice. It was good to go patrol there since there was some...difficulties with RiverClan and WindClan at the moment, so checking would be good to go check those fishfaces.
