Trying our luck (open)

Rippedpaw looked over the big group of apprentice's around him. They'd been goofing off a bit so far which was probably due to the size of the group. It was obvious they would get nothing done if they were all together. He'd just suggested they pair off and was relieved that Sprucepaw agreed. The young apprentice thought for a moment, trying to come up with the best way to get this done. The clan needed all the prey they could get this time of year, and he did not want to waste another second out here messing around. He was still a new apprentice and hoped to prove himself to his clanmates and mentor.
"Sprucepaw, do you want to go with Spottedpaw? Robinpaw and I can try together. And maybe, Willowpaw and Duskpaw?" He suggested the pairings lightly. He did not want to come across as bossy and hoped that the other cats would understand he was just attempting to make things easier for them.

Sprucepaw nodded"sounds good,what about you Spottedpaw?"he meowed.

"Ok this group was scaring all the prey away so i thing going in pairs will be best." Robinpaw spoke without a horrid tone or a hint of sarcasm for once and actually looked interested in what Rippedpaw had to say

"Great!" Rippedpaw meowed happily, glad the other cats were open to it. He glanced and Robinpaw and flicked his tail in a direction away from the group as a suggestion.

Robinpaw nodded and started to trot in the direction he pointed in, tail high in the air.

Once the other groups were out of his sight, Rippedpaw scented the air. There was a rabbit nearby. He hissed lowly to Robinpaw to warn her about it. Within a second, a white tail bobbed just feet in front of them. The tom didn't waste a moment, bunched up all of his muscles before giving chase. He gained on it quickly, then sprang, finishing it off with a quick bite. He yowled triumphantly, dropping the limp white body to the ground.

Robinpaw looked at Rippedpaws catch and spoke sincerely "Wow good catch!" She then caught the scent of another rabbit. She crouched in the tall grass stalking it, then she pounced, but missed it entirely and ended up on her back. She was still a little embarrassed but not as embarrassed as she was before.

"You alright, Robinpaw?" He meowed seriously. The tom was beginning to understand, this she-cat was too stubborn to accept her flaws. His whole mentality was that you need to recognize your mistakes to learn from them. But how to show her... He had never dealt with such a strong headed cat before. Rippedpaw padded over to help her up.

"You have so much power in your leap. I'm impressed," He said," You just need a bit more technique to direct it. Would you want me to show you?".

Her ears perked up at his suggestion "Sure!" she spoke with quite a bit of enthusiasm and looked at him with intent of him teaching her

He crouched down quickly, mentally thanking his mentor for showing him so much in the little time they had together so far.
"So, you need to control your weight. Keep all of your muscles tight, ready to spring. If the rabbit is moving, picture where it will be the second after you leap. That will you will land on it. If your prey is not moving, just focus on where it is at. Make sure you stay in control of your position and weight. You've got the strength down, not worry about control," Rippedpaw meowed as he stalked forwards and leapt swiftly onto the unmoving pile of white fur he had just taken out. The tom did not even realize how much he sounded like a mentor. All of his focus was on helping his friend improve her technique as much as he could.

Robinpaw watched his every move and tried to mimic them but aimed at a wild flower and managed to land on it. She grasped it in her jaws holding it as if she was a kit presenting it to her mother.

Sprucepaw flicked his tail for Spottedpaw to follow.He smiled as he watched Rippedpaw help Robinpaw.

"Great job!" Rippedpaw purred. In those few moments she had improved so much. He was truly impressed.
