Mottledkit's Apprentice Ceremony

It was getting quite chilly! Darkstar fluffed out her fur as she glanced up at the clear sky, taking a swift jump onto her den. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Mottledkit puffed out her chest as she strutted out of the nursery. Her cheeks were dusted pink as Blacktwig gently rasped his tongue over her ears. She smiled a wobbly smile, glancing up at Darkstar. She seemed astounded to be in the presence of the leader. "Go on, Mottledkit," Blacktwig encouraged. The red she-cat strutted forwards towards the leader, hazel eyes shining.

Pinewhisker took his usual spot in the back of the gathering cats, his own favourite shady spot.

Blacktwig gave a nod in greeting towards Pinewhisker, as Mottledkit took a seat near to the front of the crowd. Blacktwig returned his gaze to the small young she-cat. She reminded him of himself so much.

Darkstar smiled down at the confident kitten, then at Blacktwig. These young cats were having kits so early, but she couldn't complain. '"Young"? I'm not that old either!' She forced down a laugh. "Mottledkit. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time that you became apprenticed. From this moment on until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Mottledpaw. Morningshine will be your mentor, and I know she will pass down all that she knows on to you."

Mottledpaw leapt up joyously to touch noses with her new mentor. She knew in some way that they were kin, however, lineage was confusing to her and she didn't want to figure anything out. Her smile shone as brightly as the sun as she glanced around at the crowd of cats before her, after touching noses with Morningshine. She leapt down, tail high in the air. She felt as if she would burst with pride.
