New Moon [Final DF TOPIC]

Ashwing snarled in anger as Saltpelt continued a tirade of bitter lies. About to say something, she instead listened as Thrushstar contradicted the usurper's rant. She winced at the sound of Saltpelt's pain, but knew that it had become the only way. She growled in frustration as Breezeheart threw her to the ground, the breath knocked out of her. Lying on the ground, her old bones reminded her that she hadn't slept in a proper nest or had a real meal in a moon- she was too busy making sure the others had good beds and enough food. Try as she might, the gray she-cat couldn't get up to help Thrushstar, much as it pained her to watch the poor leader in trouble. She could hardly breathe.

Shimmerheart grinned at Leopardfang. She had really missed him. She felt a flash of relief at seeing all the emotions go through his eyes. Watching his strength, the happiness of just seeing him flooded through her worn, slim body, making her forget all about the fight. Her hazel eyes sparkled as they met his green ones, foolishly happy.

Halfmoon shrieked in pain as One-eye's claws dug into the sensitive flesh of her deformed face, spattering her white fur with blood and clouding the vision of her one good blue eye. Scarlet blood gushed from her eye where the Dark Forest cat's well-trained claw had pierced it. Still crying out, she fell to the ground, unable to move, claws convulsively digging into the ground. Thoughts of Reedfang, her mate- Fallenblaze, her brother- and Goosestorm, her beautiful son, filled her mind. What would they do if she never got up?

Turtlepelt was done trying to talk to Smokefang. This cat needed to die, again- the sooner the better. She slid under the gray she-cat's belly, raking it with her sharp claws and sliding easily back out on the other side.

Breezeheart collapsed. Her head ringing as her head collided with the ground. She could see the red and white of her sister's pelt growing fuzzy in her vision. "Saltpelt... I'm sorry.." She said softly to her sister. "I didn't protect you like I said I would..." Her vision was growing blurrier. She didn't have long left. She silently apologized to Nightpaw, and Sootkit. She just hoped her daughters would grow up to be wonderful warriors. Her once bright blue eyes were growing duller. "Even if you were on their side... I still wanted to protect you.. and I failed.." Her chest heaved as she tried to take in more air but it was hard. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to speak.

Her heart buckled and then broke at the sight of her sister then the words that she spoke. If StarClan had any mercy, they'd take Breezeheart and give her joy again. Let her see her kits, let her meet their brother and their mother. Her only crime was wanting to save her wretched sister. 'Let her be at peace, cast me into the Dark Forest if you will, but not her. Not my Breeze.' She prayed as she leant over to place a paw over her sisters. Her vocal were torn and wetly whistling with every inhale of breath, but she managed to gasp out a few words before the blood clogged it completely. "Thank you.... For loving me..."

Her eyes met her sister's matching blues for a final goodbye. She closed them slowly and opened them again, voicing the silence 'I love you'. If she could ever walk the earth again, she prayed that it would be the two of them together again. 'Next time, I'll protect you.'

Breezeheart wanted to move closer to her sister. To get her to wake up again, but everything was going black. The edges of her vision blurred and faded, the battle ground and the sounds of war that were filling her ears was fading and soon enough her blue eyes closed and her finally breath left her. Her only fear was being able to see her sister again.

The golden she cat approached the dying pair a look of pity on her face. One certainly didn't deserve it. Her golden eyes flicked to the Shadowclan leader. Something needed to be done about him, but she had to take care of these two before they were separated. The former medicine cat knew it would break Breezeheart's heart to see her sister else where and never contact her again. So she gently laid a paw on Saltpelt and redirected her path to intertwine with her sisters. Sending both to the star filled skies.

Ferretshine rose with slightly renewed energy. She didn't have enough to keep going forever. The tabby warrior's chest heaved with exhaustion, but she wasn't finished yet. She smiled politely at Smokefang in an almost sarcastic way. "Go ahead and rip me to shreds, but there are plenty of able warriors to stop you." She disappeared into the bushes and slid to the other side. Suddenly, she came from the side and slammed into the leader, using her weight as leverage and effectively knocking Smokefang to the ground.

Smokefang felt herself go down again. This wasn't good she was on her last leg. She needed to push through. She had too. The dark forest leader rose again quickly. The smokey tabby lauched forward towards Ferretshine her paw striking the she cat, and knocking her out.

The warrior couldn't stand it anymore. Sitting back and watching his clanmates risk their lives while he sat and protected a perfectly capable apprentice? No. He couldn't do it anymore. After he saw Ferretshine collapse under Smokefang, he rushed forward to the unsuspecting she-cat and kicked his back legs against her. Hissing loudly, he ushered Ferretshine away with his tail and growled at the real Dark Forest leader.

Mapgiewing used Back Kick, dealing 23 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Ferretshine felt herself go down and knew she was done. She took a few wobbly steps and crouched at the edge of the clearing, trying to keep her head from spinning. She did her part, and she was proud of it. She watched Smokefang get attacked with a racing heart.

In a flash, Smokefang was out from under Gingerheart and standing upon the Greatrock. The maniacal laughter that filled the trees was spine tingling but for the large she-cat, it was infuriating. Everything from that point happened so fast. The moon was covered again and suddenly Smokefang was tackled by several warriors. Almost all other battles had ceased as all eyes were upon Smokefang. At first, the Starclan warrior wasn't entirely sure what to do. All of these living cats risking their lives for this. It was inspiring.

One after one, Smokefang's lives dwindled. It was a bloody battle but they were winning. Slowly, Gingerheart could feel Starclan's power reviving and become more and more powerful. It was invigorating, and with Smokefang's last life starting to hang in the balance, she felt motivated. As she felt the energy pour through her body, she looked up just long enough to see the clouds from the moon fading, letting its light shine through and pierce the night. With an excited yowl, Gingerheart finally decided to join in on the fight. Pushing through her comrades, she used her large size and barreled into Smokefang, easily knocking the Dark Forest leader off of her feet.

"Smokefang!" Her voice boomed through the clearing as she stood over the leader menacingly, pinning her to the ground with her large paws. "You have made this forest suffer long enough! It is time for you to face justice! This is no longer your domain. Starclan rule this forest once again while you and your followers are banished to roam around the Dark Forest alone for eternity. You will never meet again; you will never surface again. Your time is over!" The stars in her pelt grew brighter and brighter as she spoke, filling Gingerheart with more power than she had ever felt before. With one swift movement, Gingerheart bit down hard on Smokefang's throat, not letting go until she was certain there was no life left in the body underneath her. It was a terrible feeling, but the Starclan cat knew it must be done. When it was all said and done, Gingerheart turned to the crowd underneath her. "Starclan are victorious!" She yowled.

Blackpaw did not feel fully replenished, yet he heard excited yowls arise from the cats around him. The weakened apprentice struggled to his paws, energy having been depleted, and joined in the yowls with his own, cracked voice. It was quiet, but it was something.

StarClan had won.

Smokefang was so focus on her three opponents that she didn't see the ginger warrior coming for her. Even though the former Shadowclan warrior was clearly smaller than her she still managed to lose balance and get taken off of her feet some how. Even as the warrior bit down on her throat, Smokefang spoke. "I will.. never surface.. again? Ahaha don't.. count your stars... just yet.." The struggled with speaking but she didn't exactly need air to speak either since she was dead. "I will.. return... one day.. As long as.. there are stars.. in the sky..." She looked towards her fallen deputy, and her medicine cat... They would return with her. They will get there revenge.

With that the leader faded from existence, taking the rest of the dark forest cats with her, leaving only clan cats. Those who fought for Starclan and those that fought for them. It was time for the leaders to take their clans home and start cleaning up the mess that was created, and give honor to those who had fallen in the battle. There was a silent agreement among the clan cats to not linger at the fourtrees any longer and to go home and rest up.

OoC: Coon, you foreshadowing little foreshadower

Kestrelstorm stopped. Ut was done. Smokestorm faded from his jaws and he somehow felt empty. He just couldn't go back to ShadowClan. His head turned to find Falconstone limp toward him. His son looked almost as old as him. With weariness in both of their eyes, KLestrelstorm and Falconstone trotted over to Ashwing.

OOC: Even as the warrior bit down on her throat, Smokefang spoke. "Shadow... This isn't over yet. The black arms... will rise again."

IC: Lightfall smiled at the cats. She saw Oceanlight near her. The medicine cat turned to the starry warrior. "To us, you're still an apprentice. So I will give you a true name. We give you this name, Oceanlight. For there is nothing but a warm light in you." she said, giving the medicine cat her real name. She had some cuts and bruises, but as the moonlight shined, an aura surrounded her, and her wounds started to heal. She smiled and she leaped up, flying into the sky, and became a star.

The war was done. Darkstar raised her head to watch the Dark Forest and Starclan cats leave. The clearing felt bigger, the blood far more noticeable. But she tore her yellow eyes away from it to gaze at her kits. So far she could see Rainpaw and Plumpaw. Where was everyone else? Her heart sank, but she approached her children slowly, then nearly at a run. "It's over," she said as she held them close, smiling and crying at the same time. "It's over."


The battle had been fierce. Cloudpaw watched from the sidelines, feeling helpless as cats were torn apart in front of him in a fiery battle that often had a bloody end for the unfortunate living. But soon, it was done. Starclan had won. The black tom gazed in wonder at the starry cats, who he had never seen before in his life, disappear into the night sky. The stars mesmerized him. He never knew that they would be so beautiful.


Pineeye felt as if his heart would burst. They'd won. "And stay out," he murmured as the cats, that had once connived him into joining them, faded away. He stood there for a few heartbeats, letting the feeling of relief wash over him. Wait, was Ghostpelt okay? He scanned the substancially smaller sea of cats to find her relativly unhurt. The tom padded to stand before her, wavering. "What now?" He seemed to speak in a monotone, but his amber eyes were swimming with emotion.


"Well that was no fun!" The fluffy Starclan warrior huffed, looking around Fourtrees. She didn't even get to fight! Rainspot moved to stand near Dewstar, looking grumpy. She spotted Thunderclan's leader, Darkstar, and the two older looking apprentices near her. Weren't those her great grandkits? Maybe. Oh well, they looked to be in good paws. With barely a word, she quickly disappeared into the vast, cloudless sky.


With her opponent gone, disappeared back into the Dark Forest, Nightbird stood alone. She gazed at a Windclan warrior a few tail-lengths away, a conflicted look in her eyes. Should she? Maybe. The Starclan cat shook her head vigorously and approached. She had to say something before she went back to the stars. The near-transparent she-cat tried catching Kestrelstorm's attention and stood on the tips of her paws to whisper something that only he could hear. "I'm not sure if I can, but... my son forgives you. Ashcloud forgives you." For a moment, she looked strikingly similar to the deceased white warrior, as well as Spiderfur, who lay on the ground not too far away, catching her breath. Nightbird stepped back to look the tom in the eye, and then faded as she went back to Starclan.


Spiderfur watched as her brother took over the fight, and in a moment that seemed to last both an eternity and end instantaneously, it was finally over. For good. She stood up shakily and saw Kestrelstorm with a ghostly cat, but became light-headed and closed her eyes. When she opened them, the cat was gone. She must have imagined it in her exhaustion. The warrior moved towards her home territory, feeling its irresistible pull. She looked back at the clearing, eyeing the corpses of Dark Forest and Starclan followers alike, and trying to find Wildfang. They'd gotten to know each other well in Twolegplace. Would this be an end to them? She turned her head away and licked at her wounds to avoid looking guilty to the other cats. She shouldn't feel like that. This had to stop. "L-Let's go home." She quickly thanked her brother, although she didn't look him in the eye, and went down the familiar path home a little too quickly.


It was over. Fogheart made no move to attack any further, simply laying in the dirt. The blind she-cat listened as the final battle ended. What was she supposed to do now? Would she be exiled? She couldn't survive alone. She realized that now, with all her confidence and bravado gone. No cat would help her in Twolegplace. She raised her head to listen, trying to find Ivyfall. Maybe she would understand. The warrior moved to stand and walk over to her, but she stopped herself. Frostfall was dead. Her sister's daughter was dead. She probably wanted to be left alone. With sudden realization, she dipped her head and wrapped her tail tightly around her paws. She'd been pushing away help all her life, and the one time she'd accepted it... this was what happened. She was ashamed. In a moment of weakness this was what she did. She'd wanted to be left alone since she was young, but, "I'm sorry."

She'd always wanted to be left alone, but never like this. She sat by herself, waiting for the last Riverclan cat to leave so that she could follow.

Dewstar purred at Rainstorm's comment. "Really? I was enjoying myself. Even just watching these cats fight with a burning passion was enough to satisfy me. I guess it's over, though. They all deserve many moons of rest." The gray leader looked over the gathering, smiling at the sight of families being reunited and groups cheering for their victory. She almost missed being alive. Dewstar looked at Darkstar and her family, pleased that her former clan were in such capable paws. After a self-assuring nod, the starry she-cat glanced around Fourtrees once more before fading away.

Leopardfang purred and moved to muzzle Shimmerheart. "I love you. I missed you very much and I'm sorry that I didn't say goodbye." He meowed to her quietly, realizing that he had ignored her for far too long. "I blame myself for not being better. If I had been a better father I could have kept our family from being torn apart." Speaking of which, most of his family was scattered around the clearing. But they had grown up without him or Shimmerheart, and it would be best if they left them to their own mates and kits. "I hope you'll forgive me for my shortcomings. I promise I won't ever leave you again."
