Tricks of the trade [gold]

Ajax waited patiently by the barn, perched atop a decaying fence post. All of his senses were on alert, searching for his newest friend. They had arranged to meet up and he couldn't wait to see her. There was something about her that Ajax didn't see often in rogue cats. She was gentle but sturdy, self sufficient yet still kind. It was nice. He couldn't wait to spend time with her one on one and show her some of his favorite hunting spots. He knew the best place to spot and catch chipmunks and squirrels, which tasted far better than the rats rogues often had to survive on.

Gold padded over and seeing Ajax she broke into a grin and purred. She had groomed her cinnamon colored swirled tabby pelt just for him, and her pale light green eyes gleamed with a happy bright light. "Hello Ajax." She purred.

Ajax sat up even straighter when he caught sight of the she-cat. Her coat seemed to glisten in the sunlight, and her eyes were absolutely radiant. He jumped down from his fence post and gently gave her forehead a single lick in greeting. "Hello there, Gold," he mewed. "How are you? Are you ready for a good day?" He hoped to give her the best day ever.

Gold purred when he licked her forehead. "Of course I am. I'm fine how are you?" She meowed.

Ajax purred slightly. "Great now that you're here. Okay, so, before we begin this, I need to know some things." He smiled almost suspiciously, yet maintaining just the right amount of innocence to simply confuse Gold rather than worry her. "What prey have you caught in the past, and how adept are you at each kind?"

Gold pondered his question. "Well I'm not very good at hunting anything but mostly birds or mice from the barn." She replied.
