The new world order [For WindClan]

Following that gathering, Saltpelt lead the tattered remains of her clan home, her white pelt coated in blood and matted. She looked haggard, broken and exhausted, but kept walking without flinching. By her side were the Dark Forest warriors, they were there to keep an eye on her, and guard her if necessary. It was hard to believe that everything had changed so quickly in that tiny space of time. In one gathering, Ashwing had been exiled with quite a few of their warriors. Apprentices had abandoned WindClan, and to replace them were their dead ancestors. She'd had an active imagination as a kit, but even she wouldn't have been able to dream up such things.

Finally when they reached the camp, she nodded at the Dark Forest warriors to go ahead and lead them all in. She had another job to do. With somber heart, she entered the Leader's den where Sablestar laid, weaken from illness. There was a tremour that ran through her, if she did this, there was no going back. After this, she would be loathed forever. Her mind agonised over this decision, but in the end, she went through with it.

All it took was one swift bite, and the leader was dead. Funny considering how long she'd worried about this.

"Sorry." She mouthed against the she-cat's fur before heading out of the den and taking her place on the Tall Rock. "All WindClan cats old and young, gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" She meowed, she was calling everyone, from the youngest of kits to the elders who dwelled in their dens.

Nightpaw was surprised to see the new menacing warriors come into the camp instead of the ones that had left earlier, yes, some of them returned…but where was the rest? And who were these odd cats that made shivers run down her spine and her fur stand on end by only watching them?

She looked at her aunt and mentor standing on the Tallrock as she called for all the clan to gather. This was odd, and the small dark kit didn’t like one bit. She could see her mother, but where was her dad? With these questions and many more she walked towards the Tallrock, looking at saltpelt with a confused expression.

ic: Swiftpaw padded into camp tired and limping. He glanced around at everyone else, wondering what the others that weren't at the gathering were thinking. He saw Saltpelt go into Sablestars den and then come out a moment later and call a clan meeting. He shivered at the thought of what she had done to Sablestar but he padded to tallrock and sat down tiredly resting his tired gaze, trying to hide the hatred in it, on Saltpelt.

Stormkit raced up to the Tallrock, wondering what could have caused the meeting. She was in a blissful ignorance of the night's events, but she noticed something was amiss. Most of the cats of her Clan were gone, and the ones that were here were bruised and battered. The rest had been replaced by cats that sent chills down her spine. The small kit furrowed her brow and for and for once, stopped dead in her tracks.

Flashstorm padded over to Saltpelt and sat down. He looked up with warm Amber eyes.

Icestorm, old and crippled, dragged himself out of the elder's den, hearing a family yet odd voice. Saltpelt? Where was Sablestar or Ashwing? The grey tom looked around for his family, whom he also didn't see. The scent of blood, fear, and anger filled the air as the old tom sat down beneath TallRock, confused like the rest of his clan mates. He noticed some new scents, and the grey tom's fur stood on end, afraid to hear of what happened at the gathering.

Breezeheart padded into camp after the rest of the warriors. She still had her mate by her side. He was still with her. She would have someone to protect her and keep her strong. Though she didn't know what to do about the whole Dark Forest thing. She was neutral on this whole thing. She couldn't be mad at her sister for this, but she couldn't blame people's hatred for her either. The black warrior didn't know what to do. She didn't know what side to take. She pressed herself closely to Cedarfur for comfort.


Sootclaw followed the Windclan cats home. She was relatively untouched, and glared at any cat who showed hostility towards Saltpelt. It was her job to protect the new leader, and she was going to make sure that no one harmed Saltpelt. The gray tabby moved to sit next to the meeting area, and stare at the cats that had gathered for the clan meeting. She didn't need to look at Saltpelt to hear what she was going to say. She needed to make sure the other cats stayed in line.

Lightfoot moved out of the den with Icestorm. It was a strange new saying for the call to gather, and it was definitely not Sablestar's voice. The blind white tom stuck close to his friend like a burr, brushing pelts frequently for guidance. The smells were troubling. It was blood and something he couldn't identify. What had happened at the Gathering? What was going to happen in the camp?

One-eye was close at Saltpelt's side on the way back to camp. The memories of her old territory and camp began to flood her, until she could practically see herself and her sister racing through the fields in their youth. Bitter reminders of what had happened to the pair long ago made her shake off her reminiscing and focus on her task: the protection of Saltpelt. She glared around the camp with her only eye, growling lowly at a kit that had frozen in her place. One-eye let Saltpelt do what had to be done in the leader's den alone and stayed outside, watching closely when the other she-cat came back out and called a meeting.

Firepaw trotted into his former camp, his green eyes glowing with excitement. He hadn't walked the living world in many uncountable moons, and now he was home at last! He hurried past the other cats, even shoving a few out of his way, and examined his old den. The medicine den was a lot like he had remembered it, except that the herbs inside were ordered differently and reeked of unfamiliar cats. There was also a disappointing lack of deadly seeds and berries. He still remembered all the annoying cats he'd poisoned and killed back when he was alive. Firepaw turned his focus from his old den and looked up to Saltpelt, a glimmer of malice from the battle still reflecting in his eyes. He wouldn't mind if someone tried to attack, just so he could get another chance at ripping a living cat's fur out.

WindClan looked just like it did when she was alive...
Eveningsong glanced around the camp, refamiliarizing herself with the locations of the dens. With a little help from the Dark Forest, this Clan could be better than ever. She glanced up at Saltpelt. She'd be a by far better leader than Sablestar or Ashwing. Who needed nine lives anyway? Saltpelt had the WindClan Dark Forest cats to protect her. And Eveningsong wouldn't hesitate to take away the lives of anyone who wasn't loyal to the Dark Forest. She'd rid of them just as easily as she had gotten rid of many WindClan cats during her time when she was alive.

Cedarfur padded into camp with his head hung low. He was following the Darkforest, cats who could take his life at any moment. He wouldn't have come back if it wern't for Breezeheart and the kits, but he couldn't stand to leave his family alone. Smokepelt was a strong cat, and he knew that his nephew would be able to handle himself with Ashwing, although he was still unsure about this whole thing. Cedarfur sat down by his mate, looking up to Saltpelt, that discusting... foxeheart of a cat. He couldn't believe what she was doing, though he kept quiet for the time being, his wounds making him wince at every slight movement.

A growl escaped Emberleaf's throat as Saltpelt took the leader's place on top of the Tallrock. He clamped his jaw shut to make sure no more growls would come out and that he wouldn't say anything foolish to get himself exiled or killed by the Dark Forest cats. He had a suspicion as to what Saltpelt had been doing in Sablestar's den, and seeing that the leader wasn't there proved his suspicions right. Nonetheless, the old Medicine Cat still joined the clan under the Tallrock.

Cinderkit watched the meeting curiously from the nursery. She wasn't upset or saddened at the disappearance of Sablestar, because the kit had never known Sablestar. She just thought that Saltpelt was someone new. She could tell that there was some tension going on over there, and she could also tell that something was different when she saw transparent feline figures come into camp. That certainly wasn't normal, right? Maybe she could make friends with them! Cinderkit, at the time, didn't know that these cats were evil, she was still protected from horrible things like this since she was a kit, but hopefully she'd be able to ask someone. And hopefully they'd tell her.
This is great! Now I can make tons of new friends! She thought cheerfully.

"StarClan is gone. Now the Dark Forest guides us. My clanmates, Morningstar has elected me to lead you. And I will serve as your leader with heavy heart. Sablestar, she's dead. Her illness claimed her in her sleep. One-eye, Firepaw, will bury her in the Dark Forest tradition." No one would find out what actually happened to the old leader, after all, Sablestar had been near death for several moons. Blackcough, killing her, that was sparing the noble warrior further pain. Or, at least that was how she was going to justify this in her head. She trusted One-Eye and Firepaw would make sure that no one would find out what happened. Firepaw was a medicine cat, he'd know how to mask an injury.

"Nothing is going to change. We're still WindClan. We're still the mightiest clan in the forest. And now without the code to hinder us, we will rise above. My clanmates, hunt, protect and fight as you normally would. Nothing needs to change. StarClan has abandoned us, but with the Dark Forest, we will get through this." The white tabby spoke with fervour in her voice, calling out passionately for their aid. "And to help me lead, I will now choose a deputy. Flashstorm, friend, you are a great warrior, a trusted warrior. You of all people would never be lead astray by foolishness. You are kind, and wise. So I say these words before the spirits of the Dark Forest so that they may hear and approve my choice. Flashstorm, I choose you to be the deputy of WindClan."

The Dark Forest? What was going on? Surely, this must be some joke? Stormkit shook her head. But they'd never joke about this, and after all, half her clan was gone. Now that she'd thought about it, there hadn't been a star in the sky for longer than she could remember. No....it was true.

Stormkit's amber eyes grew wide, in a combination of fear, shock, and disbelief.

Nightpaw’s tail dropped and her ears went flat against her head. This had to be a bad joke, a very, very bad joke. She looked at her parents with wide You have to be kidding me right now eyes, hoping that they and Saltpelt would just burst out laughing at any second, saying that they were just messing with the ones that didn’t go to the gathering that night.

However, the Revelation never came, actually all the other way around. Some cats were as shocked as her, others smirked evilly and the rest just evaded everyone’s gaze, apparently ashamed by what many would probably consider a treason. Nightpaw looked at Saltpelt as she spoke, words caught in her throat. Too many things were going across her head at the moment, making it hard for her to think straight. The Dark Forest, those terrible cats that everyone had talked about, were now in control of the forest and everyone was just lowering their heads and tucking their tails between their legs instead of doing something about it?!

She felt like a fire had started deep within her chest, a fire that soon spread to the blood in her veins, making her fur stand on end and her tail move furiously from one side to the other, her claws scratching the ground under her. Part of her was telling her to stay quiet, to just follow her parent’s example and lower her head, to not get in a situation that probably would only bring terrible consequences for her, but it was soon becoming overpowered by her rage and the words that were previously stuck in her throat now where fighting to come out.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm down, but instead of achieving the desired effect it only made the words that she had been trying to keep in check break loose “That's a load of badger droppings!!!” She hissed at Saltpelt “The Dark Forest has just as much right to guide us as fox-hearted traitor like you to be on top of the Tallrock when they aren’t even able to give you the nine lives that StarClan always grants to real leaders!” Nightpaw was furious, no longer caring about the consequences of her words.

Just by looking at her killing glare anyone would be able to tell that Saltpelt, who once was the aunt that Nightpaw had come to love and the mentor that she had come to respect, was no longer family nor clanmate in the dark’s apprentice eyes. If she didn’t stormed out of camp, taking exile over staying in a clan leaded by a traitor like her, was because both her parents and sister were here, and she wouldn’t be able to just leave them behind like that, if they could only follow her she would be out of there in no time at all.
