An Impatient Dreamer (Open)

Duneclw watched. He never got training as a kit and thought it would be fun to help train Owlkit a little, but he decided to join in later, as father-son bonding time wa smore importants than what he wanted to do.

Owlkit smiled and nodded, he really didn’t care where he would train or for how long, he was going to get the training he wanted and that made him so happy! “What we’ll do? Hunt? Fighting?” He felt really tempted to add patrolling and exploring the territory to the options, but held back his tongue, his father had said that he would only train him inside the camp and he didn’t want to make him think that he wasn’t listening to his words.

"For now, let's work on your form," he meowed with a smile. Pointing his tail towards a fat beetle walkng towards a flower, he looked back to Owlkit. "Show me what you know, or at least think you know," Mudfoot meowed, looking at the kit.

Owlkit nodded eagerly and started to stalk the beetle. He tried to do it just like he had seen other apprentices do it while he was watching them, but doing it was clearly different from watching it. He was a bit clumsy while stalking the beetle, clumsy enough to get noticed, and the beetle tried to fly away from the kit. The kit’s reaction wasn’t fast enough to pounce before it was too late to pin it to the ground, but instead of giving up he started to run around chasing it, his running speed not being great but enough to keep up with the beetle, until it started to fly upwards instead of horizontally.

As soon as he noticed this he crouched and jumped as high as possible, he wasn’t the faster runner around, but he apparently was talented at jumping, as he allowed to reach the beetle before it went too far, hitting it with a paw as hard as possible, throwing the surprised and now slightly stunned beetle to the ground.

Mudfoot watched Owlkit with a amusement, happy that his kit was able to learn fast. "Good job!" he called out. "Make sure to keep your rump low and don't let your tail drag on the ground."

Owlkit smiled and walked towards his father, puffing out his chest and acting like if he had defeated a whole clan all by himself after his words, and though he heard to his advice and noticed where he was wrong he still felt like the greatest kit on the whole camp, soon he would be the best apprentice too, that’s for sure! “Is there any other beetles? I want to try again!”

Mudfoot gave a chuckle, proud of Owlkit for finding some fun in his little game. "If you want to find more beetles, you'll just have to hunt them down like a real warrior," he meowed with a smile, licking a paw and looking around camp. As of now, he couldn't see any bugs for his kit to hunt, but he was confident that Owlkit would be able to find something sooner or later.

Like a real warrior…Oh, how much he loved the sound of that, Mudfoot couldn’t had said any better words to rub the small kit’s huge ego in the right way. The small chocolate tabby darted off, trying to find another beetle, using his eyes and ears over his nose. This small game had become an epic warrior quest for the ambitious kit, finding a beetle on his own and catch it…like a real warrior. Repeating those words inside his head was more than enough to make his tiny body shiver in excitement. He was going to find that beetle, Mudfoot only had to wait and see!
